Does anyone actually have these or the ISO's just farting into a stiff breeze?

Anyone got any good ideas of American Wild Ales like CCK/CC/Beat etc that I should try?

    Um...what?

CCK exists. Extremely small quantities. If you're looking to try some good American wild ales, this is not where to start. Beatification is totally delicious and something like 100x easier to get than Cable Car (let alone Kriek). This is especially true since Beat should get rereleased this year.

90% of ISO:FT these days is just monkey see, monkey do. I guarantee most of the people ISO'ing it have no idea how limited it is.

Approximately 48 bottles of CCK. Is what I have heard. Tryed to get a bottle of CCK multiple times now for my 30th B-day bash in August. Failed after 3 ISO posts. People who have a bottle of CCK that is available to trade want 1:1 rare sour whalez in return. It also makes me sick to see BA who got up to 4 bottles of CCK and posts a pic in the hauls forum to brag; chances are they are holding the multiple bottles of CCK hostage...sad, but true...:slight_frown: Whalez are for drinking/sharing not hoarding...

Posts like this normally don't bother me don't know why this one did.

Someone got 4 and that affects you how exactly?

You know they aren't going to share with their friends how exactly?

And the hauls forum is a place where folks go to brag, and you are upset because someone is bragging?

If your post was humor and I didn't get it, sorry, sometimes humor is too dry even for me. Otherwise, I suggest that you are acting a bit entitled.

As someone stated, many who have CCK want rarer sour whallzz in return for it. After seeing some ISO:FT's offering all 2012 BA DL's for a CCK and CC...that tells me either people don't like those beers offered (stouts versus sours) or the few CCK that were released are essentially off the market now.

It just so happened the guy that traded me mine was iso Blabaer. I traded a 2012 750 plus five other brewery only/limited released beers (sought after and tried and trued rating wise...not the new "flavor of the month" if you will).

Also, when you overvalue your own beer that doesn't help your case (here is from your last ISO:FT posted yesterday at 4:30pm):
"If you have Cable Car or CCK ask about Mornin Delight and Kentucky Brunch. If you do not have CC and you ask for KBBS/MD I will not like that very much" that doesn't help."

So were you annoyed that a few hours after your posted your ISO no one came running to you with a CC or CCK for your KBBS/MD so you started this thread?

Should I create a thread saying how everyone who owns KBBS/MD is just a big circle jerk? Because honestly, that is a much better example than CCK.

The ISO I put up for CCK and CC in which I offered all 4 '12 BA DL's got crickets, which I was surprised by, but I think you may be right. I suspect most of these aren't for trade. Cheers!

Yeah, when I saw that I thought "that will get done in a second" but after seeing you got crickets came to the realization...there just may not be any left for trade at the moment. Good luck Mike!

So I drank a crooked stave origins grand cru last night and it was amazing! When I checked into it on untapped all 3 recommendations were cable cars... I died laughing at the thought of ever trying to get one. Not gonna happen.

If there were only 48 bottles of CCK and one person ended up with 4 that would seem to be not quite right, sharing them or not. On the other hand I am not looking for CCK so who cares.

I like how people love to fly off the handle early and often on this site.

In ISO posts I think it is a good idea to lay out expectations. Last time I put up an ISO every Tom Dick and Harry asked for "the farm" for a shelf Cantillon. I think laying out expectations is key otherwise it is like a free for all and I don't relish replying to Vigneronne:MD+KBBSx3.

I am novice on American Wild Ales, but Mike had a tasting of them the other night and now I cannot get enough of em. So if you've got the goods hit me up, because I want to try to get into them. In other words please focus on the second sentence of my Original Post, as the first is just my brand of humor, I think everyone here gets that by now.

And let's see, even if someone ends up with all 48 how does that affect anyone else, exactly? I mean other than the obvious, that now there are only have 39,846 beers to try instead of 39,847.

You say something is not right about it. What? Others had more of a claim?

Geez, I ended up with 4 of a 26 bottle release, and I bet no one would have noticed if I hadn't now mentioned it.

Again, if this post was humor and I missed it, sorry, sometimes humor is too dry even for me.

    Thanks CaveDave!

This was a fun Circle Jerk, thanks to all who came.

Next time I will put the caveat in any of my posts, "Please everyone try to play nice", I hope no one will take offense to this, but people's prose comes off as biting and acidic sometimes, when it would be nice if we could all just check the snark at the door on this site. I mean who wasn't pummeled merciliously [sic] by jocks in HS?

    Have fun all
Its just beer, drink some today!!!

I guess I just look at it different. As many of these small releases are also limited to 1 bottle per person or some other number I usually do not like the way the person ends up with large quantities of the limited release. All I know is when I show up to Hills Farmstead on a normal business day its about 95%/5% male to female ration, yet somehow on Special Release dates its closer to 50/50. Again not looking for CCK so this specific situation doesn't effect me and you are certainly right there are many other beers to drink.

    Cheers!

    This is quite true.

I am less than happy because my wife hates sitting in the car for 6+ hours for 1 bottle of limited hooch. Thus I have no mule...EVER!

The question is if people game the 1 per person system by "Muling", then what is a system that is harder to game?

The answer is... I do not know!

I think the best way to do it is a semi-random lottery where there is an entry fee.

This is what I would do

    1. Announce 3 days before a limited to release to my loyal locals that I have bottles available for them to purchase. Tell them they can come anytime in the next 72 hours to purchase and they will be reserved.

    2. 36 Hours before the release party I send out a blast email to my mailing list stating that they can paypal $20 for a raffle ticket. On the day of the release I will pull the ticket and people whose ticket is pulled may purchase 1x of the beer. I would also have something for all people who do not have their ticket pulled (this is the key to having a good party, everyone "wins" something).

    3. 16 Hours before the release I state to the known universe that we are having a party and all are welcome, few will "win" on their 20$ raffle but all will have a great day so come on out to the brewery and celebrate good beer and everyone will have at least something limited to take home.

    4. I make sure that every raffle ticket is written with the person's name and address, plus license plate of the car in which they came. Then I "randomize" by saying if a car came with 8 people with the same last name, who all entered the raffle then I let them get 1-2 winners.

I think that is simple and fair, everyone gets something no one gets nothing, people don't rip off the whole world because they think they are gonna get 16 by bringing a car full of mules.

Everyone risked 20$ so it makes everyone put skin in the game before revealing the winners, thus cutting entrants to the point where winners::Losers is 1:2

Or maybe each brewery will just allocate HOWEVER THE FUCK THEY WANT. IDK!

I have a bunch of sours. All we need to do is find a convenient time to drink up. Right now half my fridge is full, plus everything in the cellar

Just as an aside on July 4 while the grill heats, Captain Lawrence used to have releases that were parties and clusterfucks of epic proportion.

Many folks got shut out of buying at the last 2 they did that way, one for Cuvee De Castleton, the other for Rosso e Marrone. They do this thing now called a silent release. I was able to conveniently get Rosso e Marrone this silent release on a beverage store shelf for the same price as at the brewery.

It is the Dark Lord Marketing model for many breweries, though, the producer manufacturing the demand.

What does it mean? I don't know, but glass is empty and fire is ready.

"Dark Lord Marketing" It does have a name, it is called a DeGraba Buying Frenzy. Which is known more commonly as seller induced excess demand. If anyone has interest look up the DeGraba paper on Seller Induced Excess Demand.

As the beer buying public the joke is on us when we fall for a DeGraba Buying Frenzy. Maybe the community needs to boycott such instances?

Btw Big thanks to Mike for the Cable Car, that beer changed my beerlife.

CCK was released in bottles over time at both Toronado locations. There were more than 48 bottles released.
