Yo so typically I am just not a fan of smoked beers, from smoked porters to Rauchbiers (blech). Don't get me wrong, I am just as much of a RIS/BA RIS fan as the next stereotypical BA, and also love me anything HUGE and ROASTY, but for some reason I just haven't jived with the smoked beers, especially those that have a big BBQ-esque or hickory type smoke profile. However, I have had a couple smoked stouts that just rocked my world lately and are really starting to change my perception of the style.

The two that I am referring to are Beachwood brewing's Still Life smoked stout (seriously an epic beer), and The Bruery/Beachwood collab Mrs. Stoutfire smoked imperial stout. Both of these were nothing short of excellent and I immediately stocked up (only got the last remaining few of the still life, so if any of my SoCal bros got some......ISO:sunglasses:). Also had Jack's abbey/lawson's collab smoked maple lager which weirdly I really didn't enjoy on tap the first time I had it, but after I tried it from the bottle a few weeks later it was GREAT.

So my beer loving bretheren, I am curious: what are your favorite smoked stouts? Especially looking for those that aren't overly smoke-dominant, but actually build off of a great base beerif its blended, or that still have more to offer than smoke if its not.

Ashtray Heart from Evil Twin is no joke. Had to smoke an unfiltered cigarette to finish that one.

This came immediately to mind though it's a porter, only had it on tap @ Fatheads, probably my favorite Victory beer as well...

De Molen Hemel&Aarde is fantastic, particularly the Bowmore Caol Ila Barrel version!

Yes forgot this one as well. Absolutely world class. Rye Barrel aged one was phenomenal, looking to get the BBA variant.

Stone Chipotle Smoked Porter is still my favorite. I would love to see it in six or four packs sometime in the future. For a slightly more intense smokiness I also enjoy O'Fallon SMOKE. Which also happens to be a pretty good deal, by the way.
