I just thought of this question and thought it would be fun to ask to see what beers fellow BA's still have (cellaring or not) from breweries that are no longer in production. Also, include the date that the brewery closed down.

Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!

I have an unopened can of General Brewing Co's 1884-1984 Centennial Beer, in honor of the Great Falls, MT centennial. It was brewed at the old Lucky Lager factory in Vancouver, WA, which no longer exists.

I own a bottle of Akron/Macon Altbier from Blimp City in Akron, Ohio. It was given to me by my brother-in-law. The brewery went out of business in 2003, so it's at least 9 going on 10 years old. I hope Altbier ages well, because I said I'd open it when a Cleveland team won a championship...in which case, I may never get to drink it myself.

I have three Pennichuck Pompier's from 2008. They've gone sour (the last two were anyway) but they're still delicious.

The original Brewery where Felix Kriek was produced got closed in the early 1980s. My bottle is the traditional original unsweetened one that was aged in very old oak barrels. Dekoninck closed in the late 1970s, so did De Vits (Frank Boon bought it). Moriau continued blending up until 2000. Eylenbosch stopped in the early 1990's.

Yer right. I thought I had heard that they went under, but I guess they bounced back?

Yeah I don't know, that's the only one I've had from them and it was pretty recently too.

Old Dominion was bought by Fordham Brewing Co. with financing from Anheuser-Busch - which created the Coastal Brewing Co. The original O.D. brewery was later closed, and all brewing moved to a new facility in Delaware. So, essentially Old Dominion as a brewery no longer exists, instead it's merely a brand owned by Coastal.

And now Lost Rhino opened up in the original Virginia location, and I believe the two guys who started it were brewers at Old Dominion before they moved.
