I purchased a used/ like-new kenmore model 183.94673 minifridge as my kegerator, but I had to modify it to fit my corny keg. I had to detatch the freezer tray from original spot up top, and very gently bend the cooling coil and freezer tray against the back middle section of the keg. I did this without kinking or pinching the cooling coil so it still leak free. But when I plug it in on the lowest temperature setting (1 out of 7) the inside temp drops to 20F and sometimes 15F. Has anyone heard of something like this or know of a solution?

I don't know what would have caused this, but an external temp controller is a possible solution.

Lowest meaning coldest temp setting or lowest like least amount of cooling/hottest setting? The only advice I can offer is get an external temp controller so you can precisely set the temp you want to maintain. This will probably wipe out anything you saved by getting a used fridge though.

you might have changed the air flow so now it gets colder (just a shot in the dark). Other option is what happens when you turn the dial the other way? Is lowest the coldest?

you moved the coils but not the thermostat. it is possible the thermostat cut in/cut out is screwy. guessing.

get an outboard temp control. at least the fridge gets cold enough, usually it is the other problem.
