Saw this posted on their facebook that their Foeder's have arrived. Maybe finally a Washington brewer is getting serious about making sour beers.

Any idea of the origin? I assume these are not new.

They didn't say. I would assume they're used from some winery.

Well, it's Elysian, so I'm sure they won't be that serious.

Their Comtesse d' Élysée was magical, looking forward to more from them (and de Garde)!

Well, if their sour persimmon is any indication of what's to come, I'm out.

Right? That was disappointing. Hopefully they go another route...

they have never made a good sour beer IMO. All of their "sour" beers tasted very weak and watered down, they were NOT sour at all. A good sour takes a year or two and I think beside doing other things wrong they try and push them out too quick. If they take their time it might be ok but I am not guna hold my breath. Its somewhat ironic because Elysian makes great beers, just not sours

Hopefully their brewing partnership with New Belgium rubs off on them.

Perseus Lost Sour was pretty good I thought

Funny you say that because when I read the post above yours, New Belgium/Lips of Faith was the brewery that immediately came to mind. I haven't been impressed by any of the LoF beers, to the point that I have given up trying.

I haven't found any Washington brewery to have made a mind blowing sour. Most have been been just ok. That's why it's time for someone to step up to the plate and get serious about it. This is a good start for Elysian.

You never had Le Terroir, then.

This is true. I think that's the one that still might change my opinion, so I'll be watching for it.
The other one that I'd had high hopes for (based on BA comments/reviews) was La Folie, but I found it wanting.

There was a one-off keg of Le Terroir at the brewery in Fort Collins this past Spring, but I don't think they'll bottle it again until maybe 2014.

Man, I remember a 10 day stretch back in late 2011 when Hudson Public House had a keg of Le Terroir. I went pretty much every day.

Is it comparable to anything else I might have had?

Maybe a Temptation/DIPA hybrid? It's dry hopped with Amarillo, so you get that wonderful addition.

It's hands down the best thing I've ever had from New Belgium. I found three bottles at the Seward Park PCC in May 2011, enjoyed the hell out of them that summer and then stumbled on that keg at Hudson in November or December. That was fucking awesome.
