Anything special in tap or in bottle?

It was the same as the list posted above. No bottles until Aug 9. Nice place but I'll be waiting until then to go back.

^ What he said. 10 of the taps are Mikkeller beers. So happy

I don't see a tap list on their twitter page. I will be in SanFran on Monday for the day and I was planning on stopping in to check it out before heading back to SFO. How many tap & what is on tap? And is it near BART?

Very close to the Powell St station. 42? taps. The list will look like the one posted above (https://twitter.com/_DavidOchoa/status/355501005959491584). They're not gonna go nuts until the official opening. Food was good. Beer was good. Love the bar. I would stop in if you get a chance.

What was the food like? Also, what were the prices like on things?

I didn't eat, but food prices were generally high. $14 for a sausage (I assume something else came with it), and not really any good cheap options. Prices on the beers were pretty dang high too. Definitely not about to become my go to spot, but it's nice to have another place with a bunch of taps.

Not surprising that they're following the Trappist model, then.

Exactly what they're doing. The food was good but expensive. A few more options than Trappist though. I got the Korean style wings, fries and a wedge salad. All solid. 12, 6, 9? Respectively. Beers were 6.5-9 each. Mostly 250ml pours except on common stuff.

I got in line at 5:05 and got in at 6:15. They were doing some bullshit where they only let people in very slowly to keep the line long and generate buzz. This is my theory of course, they said they didn't want to flood the bartenders. But seriously, they were letting ten people in every 15 minutes. Their bartenders were not that inefficient.

I got in and rolled up right to an empty portion of the bar and placed my order for the Mikkeler geueze (name escapes me right now). It was $9 for a 250mL pour which is on the steeper end, but not outrageous. I'm worried their bottles are going to be heavily marked up, but we shall see.

The place is beautiful and spacious. I'm looking forward to going on a regular post-hype/soft/flaccid opening. There is a bottle room under construction in the basement too which you can peak in on. I'm not exactly sure if it's for private events, tastings or what and the employee I asked didn't seem to know either. All in all, it should be a good, higher end kind of place.

That must be the sour room from their email. No info about whether that needs to be reserved or what, but I'm sure we'll know soon.

I'm not sure we'll know soon. They didn't announce the deal with the soft opening until earlier that day.

I consider within the next month or so "soon" duder.

Edit: not really sure what difference it makes since they reportedly won't serve bottles until grand opening anyway...I just love the idea of a sour room.

I was born and raised in sf so i know how expensive it can be but mikkeller sf seems like an outrageous rip off. I will glady pay a little extra for a special rare/one-off beer but they are charging $7.50 for a union jack ipa??? Wow that blows. Do they have a happy hour?

The Mikkeller bar doesn't sound cheap but I don't know how anyone can gripe about draft costs in the same town where Monk's Kettle exists. $14.75 for 6 oz of Berserker as of last tap update!

Checked it out last night. Beer list was a little boring, prices were fair, stems/logos were very nice, facility was insane, food was terrible, service was awkward (beside our server himself, who ruled).

I went downstairs and poked my head in the sour room. I saw Drie Fontinen vintage 1999 and 2001, tons of Iris, bunch of other seemingly old looking bottles. I jumped in quick didnt have time to really look at everything.

    Just my 2 cents.
