Also, regarding all the noise about how it would be possible for JK to host this, keep in mind that Brouwers is in a similarish situation. Shelton doesn't distro there so Cantillon isn't sold in WA. Very curious on how they will be doing this.

I'm a college football ***** but this is an easy choice. I guess it sucks to not be a Longhorn and have to even contemplate the idea of not going to this.

    Hook'em!

So you are saying it is better to have more allegiance to beer than the school that prepared you educationally and philosophically , and it sucks and it is a disadvantage to have that kind of mindset? Just want to make sure we are all on the same page here.

I can't believe people are weighing college football (something that happens every Saturday in the fall) to something that has never happened in the Texas beer world before? That being said, I would still probably trek out to Avenue Pub anyway. Just look at their lineup, compared to what at JK? One keg, or does anybody know yet? Still I am impressed cause I thought there was no chance in hell they would get this. This year anyway.

LOL. How has this become a sports discussion?

Loons, bro! Official loons at that!

I guess it becomes a sports discussion when someone suggests you suck when you are not from a school that values beer over the allegiance to your school. That's all.

Because it's Texas and football. There might be a few people who rank football before beer.

My screen name is UT-Alex not JK or BA-Alex, but here we go...

Allegiance? No. I go to every home game, I've been to the OU game, I live and breathe Longhorn culture. Can I miss Ole Miss for a huge beer event like this? Absolutely, there's no question about it. I've missed the OU game the past several years for ACL and I have no regrets with that. With football it's easy to rewatch the game, sure it's not the same but if I had to choose between rewatching the game and going to Zwanze or just watching the game I'll take the former.

And to be clear I don't think anyone is stupid for choosing football over this, different strokes for different folks. I'll have my UT beer bag in attendance

Good football teams come and go. Great beer is always great beer. Oh, and there are these things called radios, TVs, hell even smart phones in which you can follow said football team.

Seriously, I do get peoples addiction to their teams. I have it, it is just that my teams are never...ever even close to winning anything:slight_frown: Don't ask, I will just get more depressed.

If the Red River Rivalry happened on Zwanze Day and the game meant as much as it used to (ie good chance whoever won had a legitimate shot at the National title game) I wouldn't think twice about going to Zwanze. I would sit my ass on my couch with a Cantillon and watch the game.

Hell, even if it were two other top teams playing (ie Alabama and A&M) I might skip Zwanze. I love beer and I love college football but I would personally get more enjoyment from watching a highly competive game with my family, group of friends, etc while drinking great beer at my house rather than getting some samples of Cantillon. Yes, I would miss hanging with some BA's though.

I realize it could be a shitty game but that's a chance I'm willing to take. As always, to each their own. Maybe I'll host an A&M/Alabama watching party at my house for everyone that gets shut out of Zwanze .

Oskiwawa...if people know that, then they know my frustration. Nothing any of you so call fans know the heartbreak, monumentally bad, and embarrassing games on a national stage that that particular team has tried to compete in.

I also burn 2 months vacation time for 3 hours of football when the Giants play the Cowgirls. I can't stand being anywhere near Cowgirls fans (almost everyone I work with) when they play each other. When it comes to certain sports/teams, I'm different, I know.

You won't find me trying to persuade people to abandon their football team and go to this event. Sounds like the chances of getting into JK are going to be hard enough. If I were a true dedicated college football fan, I would go the game......

Lol, this is a beer centered website so I'm actually surprised MORE people aren't saying to hell with college football for Zwanze. Imagine if you went to the Cowboys/Texans message board before a big game and told people there that you were debating going to a special beer festival instead of watching the game.

    Back on topic

I'm glad to see so many sports fans here. Last time I went to Draught House I was literally the only person interested in watching the NBA Finals with a table full of BAs.
