We used to play $0.25 pool at Mr. Lucky's until they closed and would stumble up to Casa De Donuts, almost nightly. I loved their "Potato Oles" with nacho chese.

There were times when I doubted the original owners took much satisfaction out of serving drunk college kids and 20 somethings at 2AM. We were banned once over some salt and pepper shakers that went missing during a period when we hadn't been there. It was Taco Johns for a few weeks and then everything was back to normal.

Were you around during the Joker's Wild pitchers of kamikaze days?

Oskar Blues 12-pack mixers I do not believe exist.

Aren't those "Canundrum" mixed packs a thing?

Mango Mama is in my MN Top 3. How is the Coconut tasting today? Is it a nice variant or a step down from Mango Mama?

Had it at the St Paul Beer Fest. Was the first and second beer I had. And when the rain came, I camped out by their booth and had many more. It's better than Mango Mama, if you can believe that!

Not only that, but they rarely, if ever, strike out.

Coconut Mango Mama went to Lutsen for the Hopped Up Caribou beer fest so we missed out in Duluth. Mango Mama was tasting good though.

Ouch! That kinda sucks. The lineup for Duluth looked really solid though. Did you get some Roulette, Darkness, and Worthy Adversary at least?

IMO Hammerheart had the best lineup of the fest. Their oaked dry stout was my fave and the smoked IPA and porter were excellent. Excited about this brewery. Excelsior's Colonial Spruce cask was distinctive and memorable. Also enjoyed Borealis Fermentary's Mon Cherries and Blackilist's Or de Belgique and Imperial Wit w/Kaffir lime leaves.

Had Darkness last night @ 7 West Taphouse so stayed away from the long Surly lines. Their speciality lines were gone in 5 minutes anyway. I did like Urine Trouble. Enjoyed some Roulette but didn't hit Fulton.

I had Urine Trouble at the taproom yesterday. It pushed my perceptions of what an IPA tastes like. The brett showed up when I expected a strong citrus, pine, or malt on the finish. It was hardly cat pee, it was actually quite pleasant. My wife enjoyed it too.

Hammerheart is bringing some awesome products to the market... I thoroughly enjoyed each beer they brought to the fest. The pepper porter was balanced and not hot at all (spicy), a great pairing with a natedogs bacon dog. But the one that had me grinning ear-to-ear was the peated red ale... I can't wait to see their beers on tap and eventually in bottles, although the owner made it clear they're taking it easy, one step at a time.

All in all, the festival was a ton of fun. It was great seeing old friends, and of course meeting many new beer-happy people! And every brewery brought some great tasting beer... you'll hear no complaints from me. Now the countdown to ABR begins!

That place is still open?! Oh how I bet the CP business community would love to see that place go away. I think they got some weird old ordinance that allows for something you don't get anywhere else in the state.....
