Unless I'm at a party and they only have BMC, I'd rather not drink. Even then I'd probably just take shots or drink whisky.

Last night the only decent tap offering at Webster Hall in NYC was Brooklyn Lager (Stella, Heineken, Bud Lt, Miller Lt) and I had 3 of those for $20. Not bad.

I'll enjoy a tasty root beer or soda or ice tea before I drink bud light, lite or coors light just hanging out with friends.. they taste terrible.

I prefer a good craft beer and 99.9% of what I purchase is craft. But, I certainly am not against having a Bud, Coors or Miller from time to time. Heck, throw in a Corona with a lime for good measure. It all has its time and place and I will drink it all and enjoy it regardless.

I prefer macro lagers over most craft beer offered, especially in the warm months.

    here's my pecking order*:
    #1 choice = good beer
    #2 choice = decent cocktail
    #3 choice = decent wine
nonalcoholic choice = coffee, unsweetened ice tea, or water

*notice the complete absence of bmc beer, box wine, wine coolers, and artificial sweet drinks

To me drinking mass produced beers is kinda like eating at a big chain restaurant. You go there knowing what to expect. Most folks who buy highly commercialized beers dont know any better. Its up to us to enlighten them and show them why we refuse to drink them. "I know that hole in the wall restaurant isnt on TV but hey give it a try! You might even like it better than the ones at Denny's."

I have on occasion gone for a Bud or Miller Lite or PBR when nothing else is available, but my beer consumption would drop radically if that was all I had available.

I honestly stopped drinking beer back in 2005 because to me it all tasted the same and rice seemed to be in all of them. Add to that all the beer fads like Lime in Bud just turned me off. Then in 2007 I had my first "craft" beer, a SN Pale Ale to be exact and I said "wow! Beer with taste!" So yes I am now very picky about what I drink and where I drink it. I have went to several establishments that only offered BMC brands and as a result I had tea with dinner. I simply refuse to drink beer just for beers sake unless it is a quality product. So call me anal if you must, I simply refuse to drink swill.

I like to think there's a time and a place for all varieties of beer, so I'll drink virtually anything given the right conditions.

If I'm at a restaurant: On the few instances where I go somewhere that doesn't at least offer a Shiner (and in Texas, that is indeed rare), or I'm just not 'feeling' any of the choices, I'll abstain.

If I'm at someone's home or gathering: I'll gladly accept a bud/coors/pbr, if thats all thats available. it may be a bit misguided, but I've always thought it bad form to decline joining your host in some libations.

At home or a restaurants, I'm pretty much craft or no beer. Would have a guinness or a woodchuck, anything less than that, and it's decaf coffee or water. I don't drink spirits, rarely soda, and I can't seem to be able to sip wine. (A pint of Chablis, garcon!)

If someone is misguided enough to invite me into their homes for a gathering, I'l go along with whatever is offered. They usually hide the wine first though.

Drink what you like, like what you drink,

    Cheers

I have been attempting (and so far, succeeding) at losing weight so my philosophy is that the calories have to be worth it. Craft beers are, most of the macro stuff isn't. Less about snobbery, more about continuing to be able to enjoy my hobby while getting healthier.

If I go to someone's house, and they offer me a Bud, and there's nothing else, I'll drink it. Everyone I know is aware I'm a "beer guy." To refuse given that context would be rude.

There's a fine line between "beer snob" and "beer douchebag." Sometimes you take one for the team.

I definitely dont subscribe to the macro/AAL is better than no beer at all theory but there's also "bad craft" out there and in that case bad craft is still better than macro/AAL. A few weeks ago I was drinking this really bad APA. It was pretty blah and there was practcially no hops at all and it was mostly malt. I still drank it up though because at least it didnt have the foul and harsh grainy taste of an AAL.

I'll only drink beer if it's good. It's not worth the calories if it sucks (I'm a girl - I have to watch these things, unfortunately). I was playing a gig recently where they offered the band free beer, but only Coors or Coors Light. No one took the free beer. Instead, I paid $5 for an Old Rasputin on nitro, then another $5 for Left Hand's Milk Stout on nitro. Totally worth it.

I usually stick to wine when there isn't any good beer. IMO, bad wine is better than bad beer.
