The last thread was closed, and since they distribute to San Antonio now, figure well start a Houston based thread..

so, cherries on fire being bottles in two weeks or so , I'll speculate 8/5 release.

So it's my understanding that Cherries on Fire got a longer barrel treatment (closer to 002) as well as cherries, correct? It's been sitting in barrels since they made 005, right?

Not quite. The only difference between 003 and 005 is that 005 was aged longer. They have two barrels of cherry hellfighter that have been aging for at least 7 months but I believe they are for blending.

005 was not aged longer than 003. Taste both of them and its obvious. Or maybe they reused the same barrels and it didn't work as well. Either way 3 was better than 5 IMO.

005 was definitely aged longer than 003. Taste both of them and its obvious, or maybe just ask the people at Karbach. After 005 came out, I had asked DG at Karbach why it tasted so different, and he said the only difference was that 005 was aged longer than 003. They only reuse barrels in experiments, such as 002 (Frageelay) used old BBH (pre-003) barrels.

Was told Cherries on Fire will be the biggest FUN release so hopefully there should be plenty to go around.

    Although the below scares me...

DO NOT RELEASE ON AUGUTS 5th please... I'll be on vacation. I would be super, super sad..... BUT if there is more of this out there than 003 and 005 I know my awesome homies here will help me find some if I'm gone... BUT.. ohnose.... now they'll be sending our precious out to SA now...

    I'm scared.

If they can wait until the next Monday...

If it is on August 12th I have a conference to be at in Houston.. but I'll be late to the conference after waiting in line at MidTown Specs...

So you're saying 005 had more barrel presence than 003? How strange, 005 tasted close to OG Hellfighter to me. Oh well I'm not going to argue, if you talked to the people of Karbach I have to take your word on it cause I haven't.

I agree with your assessment of 005, at least from the bottle. Kegs seem to have the same profile to me. Though the Karbach brewers have said 005 spent more time in the barrel. It does seem a little more mellowed in the bottle for some reason? I need to ask if they blend the barrels next time I am at the brewery.

And here I was basing shit off my own taste. Foolish. Glad some people out there have their facts straight to keep fools like me in check.

I say we set up a series of check points and load stations along I-10 for vehicle inspection and confiscation of outbound cases of said elixer.

If it's released next month, then we probably won't see it in bottles. Karbach is draft only in SA until at least September.
