Since everything Karbach is done... we can go back to small threads about individual releases... I finally opened a bottle last night. We went to a friends bday party... lots of bud light and stuff there... a couple of guys who casually try craft beers and one guy who isn't quite as enthusiastic as us, but does make his own beer and was very eager to try what I brought. I had a can of Barn Burner saved to let everyone taste before.... I enjoyed Barn Burner. I had it on tap a couple of times and went through one six pack. This was my last from that pack. Then we cracked open the Roll in the Hay. I'm not a wine lover at all. In fact I simply never drink it.. too much wine taste..ha.... I enjoyed this though... because I could taste a mixture of wine barrel and the base beer. Plenty of carbonation, but it didn't bother me... Everyone really liked the smell of the beer. Everyone enjoyed the taste. The two guys who don't drink craft as much.. it was their favorite... the craft guy.. well he enjoyed the pours from my Yellow Rose growler more... and of course the coup de tat of some Heady Topper I saved for the end. I have two other bottles of this I'm going to hold onto for a while. I can certainly understand how this isn't for everyone. I liked it much more than I thought I might... not as much as BBH but more than Frageelay and Bodacious. (I brought a sixer of Karbach Love Street Summer and it went over very well with the BMC drinkers...) Just one non technical beer dudes opinion.
I wasn't gonna buy it at 1st, but couldn't resist. I got lot's of butter in the taste. I was pleasantly surprised.
Glad it was worth the drive for ya! Hope the 003 works for you also. I still hope to catch this one on tap somewhere soon.
