Of the ones I've tried, BCBS (even 2009), Coffee and Cherry Rye I would definitely go with Cherry Rye.

If you liked Cherry, you should love Bramble. I'm more of a raspberry fan anyway, but Bramble tasted more natural and pure to me than Cherry. So good. And it's a shame we might never see it again :slight_frown:

Haven't had Vanilla or Bramble yet, but that'll change shortly. Of the ones I have had, I'd rank them like so in terms of how they're drinking now:

    1. Rare
    2. Fresh regular BCBS (i.e. I think 2012 is drinking better than 2011, 2010, 2009, 2008 right now)
    3. Cherry Rye
    4. Coffee
    5. 2011
    6. 2010
    7. 2009
    8. 2008

I've had 08 through 12 multiple times each over the last year and to me, it just degrades over time. What I love most about the beer is that huge, viscous, coating mouthfeel and how bourbon forward it is at first, and both of those qualities drop off markedly starting at about four months. Still, the regular release going back to 2009 is still drinking great and among my absolute top beers - I just prefer the 2012 to the 2011, preferred the 2011 to how 2010 was drinking in 2011, preferred 2010 to 2009 in 2010, and so on on.

    1. Vanilla
    2. Cherry Rye
    3. Regular BCBS (any year)
    4. Coffee...2011 was really good, wasn't as big a fan of 2012.

I haven't had Rare yet, so if that ever happens, this list could change.

I haven't had much of the vintages, but I've had all of the bottled variants except for Vanilla. Rare is definitely tops for me. Bramble is pretty high on my list too.

This is exactly what they did do - split and scrape the inside of the bean out. One of the other reasons they will never do Vanilla again is because of how labor intensive the process was.

I had Bourbon County Napa and I thought it was the best variant I've had, even better than Rare. The red wine flavor makes it fruity, slightly dry, and tart, all of which complement the huge roast, chocolate and dark fruit that is Bourbon County.

I really enjoyed the Bramble myself. How could anyone hate on a bourbon-soaked, chocolate covered raspberry?! Too good.

Ah, I wasn't aware they did that and still had problems. A shame, by all accounts it was great and got even better for a few years.:slight_frown:
