love this beer, have had it many times (pops up in MA bars and to a lesser extent NYC and new haven with pretty high frequency; also a BA fest staple, more or less). spent last night drinking its pale analogue, curieux, and was very pleased.

I have to give Allagash credit, as always, for not spilling the beans before the time is right. I asked about this probably 4 years ago and was told "soon", but since they they've kept up a good party line of "no plans right now". So much better to suppress the hype and unreasonable expectations until there's really and truly a product to sell.

Dam! I hope they have something good when I go next week. Maybe Bourbon Black will appear.

    Confluence?

I bought a bottle of Confluence. The beer I had a 12 oz pour was a companion to Confluence, I may have gotten the name wrong. But it was made with Brett and a wee bit stronger abv wise than Confluence, and according to my server is being released in bottles in September.

Interlude? Unless they're blending interlude and confluence.. that could be cool

i've had a few bad bottles of interlude (and by bad, i mean dreadful), but when it's on, interlude is sublime. they get a little pricy, but allagash really does the high end beers right. like lost abbey (my bristling "how dare you release all that flat angel's share!" self recoils, but the truth is that the high end of lost abbey's line of beers is--like allagash's--fantastic).

I was at allagash last Friday and they told me BB would be about a week or two more before it was for sale.

    Enjoy

Thinking of visiting Allagash. Whats it like? Brewery tour and tastings only and bottle sales? No Brew pub or anything like that?

No brewpub or food. The tasting room is new. You used to have to register for the tour to get any tastings, but now you can do so without the tour. It's a decent tour though, so I still recommend doing it (register on their website in advance). They sell bottles of a bunch of their beer and pretty much any merch you can imagine. They will often have special brewery only bottles for sale including Coolship series.

Coolships are gone till late fall.... thats the word from the brewery retail shop today. Man that was a good run though... seems like they have had a coolship in house for over six months. Anyhow, Bourbon Black should be hitting the retail shop by the end of August and retail by mid September !

Don't sleep on the House Beer racks though... great session beer that has never made it out in any other form other than the wooden case racks.

Btw there is an Allagash rare barrel night at sunset grill and tap August 13th with this on tap and more. Pay as you go and at least sunset grill and tap has the space unlike Tommy Doyle's night for Cisco which was like setting foot into the bowels of hell, ok a little over exaggeration but you get the picture.

Problem is that you have about a 50% chance of getting the beer you ordered at Sunset, and then you're more than likely going to be shortpoured anyway.

FYI, this is hitting the shelves tomorrow at the brewery. Curious to see how it drinks from the bottle compared to past draft offerings.

Awesome! Any idea what it'll go for a bottle?

Pure speculation, but my guess would be in the $15-20 range. Basing this off Curieux, which is a regular lineup beer aged in barrels
