I just want to know why they picked the places they picked in NY.

Sucks that Tørst got the snub.

The owner of Tørst has always done Zwanze day at his bar in Denmark and Spuyten has hosted it every year. No one is getting snubbed.

Maybe you're just over thinking this....I don't think Cantillon is licensed to be sold in WA state either (I could be wrong) but Brouwers will be participating in Zwanze day. Maybe it's just one of those don't ask, don't tell type of things.

Glad to see more West Coast access, especially Seal Beach Beachwood (note the corrected spelling). Now if only the Shelton Borthers would come back to Minnesota, maybe some bars like Happy Gnome might have a shot at this.

I know that Texas has some antiquated laws, but at least in California there are limited draft provisions for festivals, where the approval process isn't near as onerous. This is how, for example, Bell's and Founder's were approved for a few locals during CBC in SD about a year ago. Not sure if there are similar exceptions in Texas.

It was fun, but crowded. They split us up between the store (WLV) and the bar across the street. Two of the four people I had with me ended up leaving early because it was butts to nuts and it took a good amount of time to actually get served. However, by 7 or 8 o'clock at night, the crowds died down and you could just walk up to the bar and get served immediately. Most people only got a single (2oz) pour of the Zwanze which was a little anti-climactic since the whole day is supposed to be about that beer. The guest brews were great though.

How was RR last year? First come first served as with PtY or tickets? Did it run out at a certain time?

RR didn't do it last year, but in 2011 it basically worked like a PtY release, people queued up, at some point they handed out tickets (which I nearly missed thanks to going to the bathroom at the bookstore across the street), and then at ~30m before the tapping they let people in and seated you. They poured and served it pretty quickly, and it went fairly smoothly. I don't know if people got served after the first wave (because I was in the first wave!) but I'd guess they did. I don't think people got second pours, I didn't.

You probably want to try to be in the first wave of people getting in, hard to know when that will mean getting in line.

RR didn't host last year. Only the Trappist did. The first year RR hosted, there was a line, if I recall, but if you got there by like 15-20 minutes before you got in and got a pour. I.e. it wasn't a total shit-show like Younger. That said, a lot has changed in the beer world in two years, and even with two locations, I expect they will need a ticketing system or something.

I got a small second pour. If I recall a couple of RR servers walked around with pitchers after everyone had gotten theirs and poured out the remainder of the keg.

Ugh, Monk's, again! I can't stand that place. It requires no previous knowledge of beer or Philadelphia to go through the cattle corral that is Monk's Cafe. Guaranteed to skip this shitfest, again, just to save my sanity. You'd think they could change the location once a decade to somewhere with a little bit of self worth and pride remaining.

No, Cantillon originally misspelled it, they posted a correction later.

Yes, I know. That was my point, is that Cantillon had this corrected days ago, so when this thread was started, the OP was most likely using the same source as the person who started the same thread several days ago. Catillon has had this fixed for a while, but this other source grabbed the original misspelling and never went in to fix it. That is how you can tell that they are most likely using the same source.

It was copied and pasted from Cantillon's FB update which went up 20 minutes before I posted it here. They posted later in the day that there were a couple mistakes in this post:

"Two mistakes in the bars names, it should have been Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach and Asahi Umu in Tokyo.
    Cheers!"

So glad Avenue Pub is getting to host this again! Last year's was thoroughly organized with owner Polly taking people upstairs in groups for the really rare stuff on tap. After all paid ticket holders cycled through, everything left over was available btg and bottled. Sour overload!
