And if you know anything about how beer releases work, it'll both be the best one every produced, and not as good as last year's.

Ha, I will say, in all honesty, that Zwanze 2011 was one of the best beers I've ever had. Zwanze 2012 was very good, but not on that same level.

The news, over on ratebeer, is that it's an Abbey tripel.

The 2011 Pinot d'aunis was my favorite so far also. This years is an abbey triple. It's the one he originally intended for last year but didn't feel it was ready.

I'm wondering how this will go over if that proves to be accurate.

When do tickets go on sale, and are you able to purchases bottles to bring home or is it just a tasting event?

Alright dude, we'll see if Jeppe pulls 2013's Zwanze release out of his ass somehow. And then there's Alewife getting the nod, fuck is THAT about?

Good thing I'm going away for this years release.

Huh? Jeppe's other bar is Ølbutikken which has always hosted the event. Alewife and Lord Hobo are owned by the same person who is good friends with the Shelton and Cantillon people. So that's probably why it got picked.

All of the bands that I want to see are playing on Sunday so I'm skipping Saturday for this.

My point is that Jeppe's bar in Denmark, is in DENMARK and isn't called Tørst. And Tørst isn't on the list.

I think this is all pretty straight forward.

As for Alewife being chosen. I just think it's a bad idea. It's out of the way like a ************ and they really just don't deserve the event.

I'll be at The Birch, in Norfolk, VA, that day waiting for the doors to open. It should be a great event!

It is largely up to each host on how they want to distribute access to the pours. Bottles are unlikely as most of the Zwanze is put into kegs.

    That said, I can't wait!

It's one stop into Queens on the 7. It's as much as "out of the way" as Stuyten Duyvil (one stop into BK on the L), or a bar in the UES or UWS. Or as much "out of the way" as a bar in LES, East Village, West Village, etc.

Several places have listed it as being a Beligian Tripel or spontaneously fermented Tripel (I guess similar to how the 2010 was a witbier style).

Shelton Brothers run the Cantillion distribution in WA state and they have been bringing other beers from their portfolio to WA but they have not brought any Cantillion yet, so I think they are technically licensed to sell it they just have not given us any yet. I could be wrong but I know Shelton Bros has a western wa rep in state currently...

It's significantly closer to the city than Torst. It is also about 10x the size, which, if you've ever gone to a beer event before, you'd realize was a good thing. Spuyten is small enough as it is but at least they have the outside seating.
