Is this available for growler fills? Was it a one-time thing? I don't see a BA profile for it. Thanks.
The Drakes Barrelhouse doesn't allow growlers for barrel aged beers. and it looks like they're out at the barrel house. By the way, their barrel aged beers are great. The workers there tell me that they will be bottling some soon, so be on the lookout! I dont know which ones exactly, but I bet Bourbon Aged Drakonic will be one of them and that's one of my favorites.
what jibby said. I visited Drake's back in January and was absolutely blown away by Total Recall and Quaid's Dream and was more than willing to buy a growler of Quaid's, but they told me they don't do growlers of the barrel aged beers. Damn shame
Like the other BA's have stated, no dice on anything barrel aged...well, unless you know somebody. Brian and the other brewers have been doing great things with the barrels they've been getting. I can't wait to see what they do with the Utopia barrels they got from the Boston Brewing Co.
Quaid's was great stuff. Last time I stopped by they had Sir Frances Dre's DIPA aged in Chardonnay barrels and slightly soured, I'd pay good money for bottles of that. The Good Shit (blend of barrel aged barleywines) was aptly named as well.
Their barrel-aged lineup during SF Beer Week was killer. Loved those two, and the Brette Davis Eyes was fantastic as well.
Hmm, I wonder if I've just been trying the wrong things, I've yet to have a Drake's barrel beer that I'd give an A (except for some mysterious chardonnay aged blonde ale that I had at a beer dinner, but I've never seen it again). What I want to see is Aroma Coma year round.
