That one, elusive local beer...?

    I almost missed out on this years Mexican Cake (regular, not the BA stuff, even though I haven't had any of that either). My #1 beer store sold out before I could get any. I bought a bottle at my #2 store, went to Russia for three weeks, came back and it was gone! We had a house sitter and she drank it! And she drank my last bottle of KBS! Luckily, a buddy of mine bought a bottle of Mexican Cake and I was able to split it with him, so I did get to enjoy some this year.

    wow, never again for her haha. Just had my first BA Mexican Cake tonight - sipped it for a good few hours after starting fast. I put my review up (apple brandy version) - its absolutely fantastic. I was also lucky enough to score a case of the regular mexican cake and mexican coffee cake on tap at the brewery for the BAMC release.

    I've seen it around town a lot (on Tap @ Charleston Beer Works and Total Wine growlers a few times). Are you in the Charleston Area? I'm pretty well connected and can let you know next time it pops up somewhere.

    I wish I did. I live in Myrtle. Anytime I go to Charleston I load up at CBX. Every now and then I'll head over to James Island and hit up one of the Pigs and grab some stuff.

    Thats a good call - if you're ever up for some super chill drinking check out House of Brews in Mt. Pleasant (they're on FB to give you an idea of the vibe) - its only 10 minutes from CBX. those are my two spots

    I'll do that for sure. I'm always looking for a good bar to drink as well. I've been to Beer Works, Boone's, and the Griffon, just to name a few. I went to Coastal and ran cross country and one of my old teammates/roommates lives in Charleston now, so I go down there quite often.

    Doohhh it was just on tap at the brewery a month or so ago!! Just happened to stumble upon it myself that day, but they definitely have an odd/unpredictable bottle/special release system.
