Michigan has Licenses for Brewpubs, microbreweries, and Brewers. The Brewer license is triggered by a bbl/year figure which Bells passed several years back, and Founders was close to that number.

I am with The 8th Street Grille in Holland, MI. We are the ones that did the work to have the law changed. I worked with Founder's Brewing, Mark Sellers of Hop Cat & Grand Rapids Brewing with some other Class C license holders in Grand Rapids and Senator Hildenbrand to get this done. We did not get much help from any of the places you would expect but we worked hard behind the scenes to get this done. Senator Hildenbrand took this on when others did not want to. He should get most the credit, he is the one that wrote the bill and lobbied to have it passed. He told us he could get it done and he did. We have 28 taps of craft beer and we fill growlers 7 days a week. Tuesday all fills are $5 off, Thursday $3 off. We have a great selection, the best in Holland. Check out our facebook page for our current up to date selections. We do takeovers regularly and have Shorts coming in Oct, Founders in November. Cheers.

New Glarus doesn't do growlers ether. I once saw somebody walking out of 3floyds with a full clear growler that was clearly not a 3F growler, I'm not sure what that means, but obviously some people can get growlers refilled at 3F's?

Rhode Island doesn't do growler fills at all. Why? Because Jesus said so.

Although, a bill recently passed our state legislature that is apparently going to change this law. We shall see........

Before the Alchemist was all the rage they had a quaint little pub with dynamite brews. John chose not to fill growlers for QC. He would sell a pint and hand it over as if he were a proud father sending his child off. With that level of pride over your product you can't trust the tourists to care for the product as you would. John was afraid his offspring would be rolling around in some out-of -state trunk at 100 degrees for days on end. Not that anyone here would do that but why risk it. Cheers to John for the care he puts behind his product.

Pump House Brewery in Moncton, NB (Brewery of the Year in Canada in 2005) doesn't do growler fills. I think it is so that you have to drink/eat at the brewpub to get their seasonals. To bad their best year round beers, their IPA and Muddy River Stout, are also only sold by the pint. Well, less than a pint due to short pours, but that's a complaint for another day.
