Prairie Hop bottles for $16 at Hay Merchant. Not bad at all for the price point, not to mention one of the best saisons on the shelves right now.

Love the place but they should really stick to their bread and butter... on tap. The only way people are going to buy that suff is if they offer a selection like BRC (Limited Release Jester King's RU-55, Boxer's Revenge, and such). I might be wrong but I can't imagine going there to get a bomber.

Moving here from NW Indiana (Mecca of Beer), I could not agree more. Until they start getting some better quality stuff I will not be buying a bottle anytime soon. I remember in Chicago I bought a bottle of FFF Behemoth (2 years cellared) for $40. I wasn't even mad, but here I will not pay that price because the selection is not great...

I'd pay $42 for De Dolle Stille Nacht Reserva 2010 at Avenue Pub

I paid 9.50 euros for a bottle of 1986 Stille Nacht at Erasmus in Bruges a couple of years ago. I can't even imagine what certain (friendly?) bars here would charge for something like that.

SNR is not the same beer. 360 bottles of SNR 2010 made it to the states, and I'm pretty sure most were selling for $40-50. It's also a 750ml.

I know, I wasn't comparing, but your post reminded me of the one I had. More general point about vintage bottle pricing in other places.

My point was that it makes perfect sense for a bar to charge $42 for SNR 2010; in fact, I'd say it's an incredibly fair price considering that's pretty much what it retailed for in the states.

I'm in London this week. I bought a couple Oude Gueuze Tilquin bottles, from a bar, for $10. Not £10, $10. And tonight I'm going to a bar that allegedly sells Cantillon Gueuze & 3Fonteinen Gueuze for $9.25 & $11, respectively. If we could even get those in Houston, imagine what bars would charge for them.

Of course, the flip side of that is that the same bar sells Brooklyn Local 1 for $27 and Lolita for $30.75...

Turns out those were bar prices. Takeaway was much cheaper. Assuming no breakage in my luggage, I got 3F gueuze for about $7. Incredible.
