Who came up with bottling dates?

    I seem to remember Budweiser being the first with freshness dates. Was there someone else who started bottling\enjoy by dates? Please please tell me different.

    Beer (at least since Repeal) has always been dated, just as most manufactured products - food and other goods - are. Here's a Blatz label from the year after Prohibition ended, for just one example.

    Now this is a piece of information that should be clearly visible on every bottle. In reference to the other current thread about ABV.
    I don't think it's very customer-oriented if a consumer has to decode some numbers and letters in order to find out, when this beer was brewed or how long it will be good.
