I generally like anything beer that has "bomb" in the description of how it tastes*.

*Unless perhaps it's a "jalapeno bomb" or "fish bomb" or something not generally related to the flavor of beer, hops, grains etc. .

From pure curiosity I Plan to brew my take on a Dampfbier. I have no idea what a low hopped (17 IBU), Munich forward (30% Munich, 70% Pils) Ale is going to taste like. I also plan to keg carbonate with some saved wort.

Oh yeah, I also plan to brew a Raging Bitch style beer, using the yeast I got from the brewery (second gen for me). This one I'm confident will come out well.

Brewing 10 gallons of low gravity IPA and a 5 gallon batch of sour something-or-other with WLP665 Flemish Ale Blend.

Turns out the IPA recipe is pretty darn similar to Two Hearted but won't be as high in alcohol. It will be hopped with all Centennial (as long as the HBS has a pound of pellets on hand; I know they have whole leaf but would rather use pellets if they have them) with 2-row/Maris Otter and Victory.

Side note, started the starter on Tuesday night and put it on the stir plate. Crashed it last night and stepped it up, and look out! It got pretty surly and started overflowing - we've lost too much yeast like this in the past, so thinking fast, I saw a big serving gravity-feed pitcher that my wife had just washed on the counter. I sanitized that up good, along with the outside of the 4L wine jug I had stepped up into, put the lid on as best I could, and wrapped it in sanitized plastic wrap. This way, any yeast that overflows can be salvaged instead of wiped up from the counter and thrown away. Homebrewing innovation!

No brewing this weekend. Hoping to bottle my CAP soon as I already kegged the CAP w/ New School hops (Simcoe, Mosaic, Calypso) from the same brewday. Need to clear another keg so I can get that in the fridge and on CO2. Also need to get my dryhops into it. Headed to Corvallis tomorrow to buy a vial of WLP Brett Trois to do a 100% Brett Wheat ISA in a few weeks.

I have to brew this weekend, not brewing is killing me slowly. This afternoon I'm gonna brew a brown mild I think, then Sunday I plan on brewing the first beer for our Oktoberfest: rauchbock. 10 gallons: 10 pounds Pilsner, 10 pounds home smoked 2 row and 5 pounds Munich. Perle for bittering, maybe a small Hallertau addition at 20 minutes.

That is the fugliest innovation I've ever seen. But hey, if it works...! :grimacing:

Building my brewing shed, finishing putting together the brew house in the new house, upgrading a friends keezer to accept ball lock and sanke kegs and cleaning all my dirty kegs.

Blending 2 gallons of Jack Daniels barrel aged Imperial Milk stout with my soured Mild/Barleywine blend to darken it up a bit, bring the volume up to 5 gallons, add a little bit of oak tannin and barrel character and give the bugs (Roselare, BugFarm VI, Lambic Blend) more stuff to chew on. Basically doing a bunch of stuff for the hell of it.

I haven't brewed a porter in a while, so I'm doing one now. Using Vienna + pils as the base, cause that's what I have. The rest are misc grains I'm looking to get rid off, some Belgian Choc, Brit crystal, special B...etc. Nothing crazy. Got plenty of yeast from a local brewery. My only problem is that my O2 regulator has finally given up the ghost after 13ish years of use. I'm not looking forward to carboy shaking later. : (

Nice. I found some vac sealed (& frozen) Citra from 2011 that still smell fantastic, so I'm going 50-50 with Glacier for the hops.

Edit 2: On another note, I've got a bumper crop of ghost peppers this year, so I may find a way to use them in this porter without killing my or anyone else's palate.

Got a starter on my stir plate ready for this afternoons' brewing session, an Aussie IPA using Nelson Sauvin, Motueka, and Wakatu hops from New Zealand. But, before I can begin my brewing session, I have an IPA I
need to get bottled. The IPA was brewed using CTZ, a blend of Columbus, Tomahawk & Zeus hops. Cheers!

Let me know if and how you use these. I love the flavor of Habenero peppers and want to do a jet black Imperial Stout with them or ghost peppers. I've never had ghost peppers and am not sure what the flavor is like. Thanks :grinning:

Anyways- I'm heating up strike water now after.. well sleeping in really late and running errands. Might only get 1 batch in today, and I'll do the other in the morning.

Starting to rain here too.. ugh. Thank goodness I have a covered porch and ceiling fans out there to keep this damn muggy humidity at bay.

Gonna do the Black IPA first, looking forward to this one the most.

I don't have much of it but I'm sure I could send you a bottle or two. It should be carbed up in the next 2-4 weeks (I'm actually lagering it a bit more before carbonating it) so just follow up with me in mid-august or so.

    Nice!

Today's partigyle brew went well. Better than expected actually. I was brewing alone and it took 6.5 hours including clean up to get the 16.5 gallons of wort into carboys. That's not too bad considering I did a 90 minute boil on the first runnings, 75 minute boil on the second runnings, had to clean up alone, and the partigyle process itself probably added 30 minutes onto my brew day.

I actually did better with my 1st running extraction than I originally figured I would and hit an OG of 1.116!!!!! So the RIS has the potential of hitting 12% abv if all goes well in fermentation.

    Recipe would work.

Haha, I was like, "Damn this guy is generous! I want recipe, he offers bottles!".. Then I re-read my post, and clearly, I'm coming off like a mooch.. "Gimmie a bottle, dude."

I'd love to get the recipe and try it. Love pineapple and a low abv light beer with that, sounded pretty good.
