My buddy and I are heading out to the GABF for the first time in quite a few years.

I read on the GABF website that tickets sold out in 10 days in 2011, and in 2012 it sold out in a matter of MINUTES! Is this true? I'm wondering what my chances are of getting tickets if I don't join a group eligible for pre-sale?

Do people sell their extras outside of the venue? I would hate to be shut out!

If you happen to blink at exactly 12:00:00PM CST on July 31st, you'll probably be shut out of tickets...half joking.

It's still a bit of a grey area as to expectations for the general sale this year. Last year was a total crap shoot. The servers melted down and for every person who managed to get tickets (I was lucky enough), dozens got an endless loading Ticketmaster screen and by the time their search request was put through, no tickets were available.

So the best I could say is that there will probably be a large enough demand for them to sell out within 5-10min the day the General Sale starts, but if Ticketmaster/GABF organizers have learned from the fiasco last year and improved there infrastructure, that's anyone's guess.

I'm sure there will be plenty of tickets put up for re-sale, with a large portion of them being at face value.

It did sell out in minutes, but a lot of the tickets are sold during the pre-sale. I am curious though, it seems that there is a possibility that there won't be any left during the general sale.

They have a set amount they keep to sell for the 'general sale'.

Don't despair if you're shut out. There are always plenty of tickets for sale at face value come festival time.

I had to sell mine last year because some ************ decided it would be cool to break into my house and steal my wife's jewelry. Hopefully that doesn't happen to anyone, but shit always comes up and tickets will be pretty easily had.

That being said, just be on your computer and ready next week.

No way they'll last past the first day. Maybe an hour, but I wouldn't sleep at the starting bell

Plenty of them for sale outside the GABF last year, or on StubHub. Had numerous people try and sell me extras in the hotel bar too. Don't give up if you don't get them 7/31

I've gotten tickets every year since 2005, but to increase my changes of getting tickets again I took the day off of work. Since last year I ended up buying off my phone from work with the ticketmaster fiasco. I figure member session tickets are gone within 1 hour and general session tickets will last a bit longer.

Thanks for all the feedback. I guess I'll try my luck on the 31st!

I tried doing a little research before asking this: Are there any differences in the sessions other than the member-only one? Are all the breweries present at every session? Trying to figure out if there are any differences in the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday sessions. Thanks.

Thur, Fri, Sat are all the same. There might be different pavillion events, but that's it really.

Some of the more popular breweries may run out of beer before the last night. I believe Alpine was done before Saturday night's session.

Others bring limited quantities of some beers e.g. The Bruery might only pour Black Tuesday during a few designated time periods.

The drunken idiot contingency like to attend the Friday and Sat evening sessions in droves.

The members only passes get you in a specific line that is shorter that opens 15 minutes before the regular gates.

I think they quit doing that this year.

    Really???

    Edit: That's a bummer, here's the text:

What happened to the Members Only Entrance?

With the tremendous growth in membership of the American Homebrewers Association and the Brewers Association, the Members Only entrance is no longer logistically feasible. There are significantly more members than slots in line to make this a special entrance of benefit to our AHA and BA members. Beginning in 2013, Farm to Table ticket holders will enter via the entrance formerly known as the Members-Only entrance
