do you think aging it will help bring out the coconut?

I can tell you that the bottle I had was the same. If the bottle didn't say coconut, there is no way I would've known. It's a decent IPA nonetheless.

The only coconut beer that I have had is Kona Koko Brown and it was rather tasty.

good brew picked up two yesterday (2 per customer) but prolly pik up two more today and at 5.99 each not to bad.
you do not want to have this to cold I'd guess 50f and up really shows off the subtle coconut. it was my final beer of the night so I plan on having it alone to appreciate it more.

I doubt it. Hard to get coconut from no coconut. They should have labeled it as an IPA with just a hint o' coconut ... that would have been far more accurate than putting out a video that mentions Pina Coladas. LOL.

It also calls ESPNman's review into question ... what beer was he drinking? Total BS review.

That said, it is a fine IPA. If you had no expectation of coconut you'd think it was a very solid IPA.

Stone never falls in letting me down. They are great at marketing & distributing not so great at making beer.

aging an ipa, the hops will drop out, so in theory the coconut should become a slightly more dominate flavor as the hop profile fades with age.

i will say with this ipa, the coconut is more noticeable in the mouthfeel, imparting an almost lactic body to this beer. in regards to flavor, as it sits and warms a bit, the coconut flavor opens up much more than at its "proper" serving temperature.

this is what i have noticed sipping these tasty ipa's over the past couple days.

Just wanted to give another quick public "thank you" to the beer guy @ Whole Foods Westlake. I was there over lunch today, looking for this beer. "Nope, haven't seen it yet," he tells me. "OK," I say, "I'm sure it will turn up." I grab a couple Double Mountain IPAs instead and head for checkout. As I'm standing in line to pay, the beer guy finds me and holds up a bomber of R&R with a big grin on his face. "Just checked today's shipments in back."

Awesome service and competitive prices, Whole Foods! You've earned my business once again. Cheers!

Spotted in a San Diego Trader Joe's. This is officially a commodity beer.

bought one (Pinole BevMo, but if you go there then there's plenty of other stuff you should buy before this... BBXXV and 2012DDBA, for instance) and am glad I bought only one. The coconut was exceedingly hard to track down anywhere in this beer, so it was basically just a reasonable IPA with a fairly muted profile that allowed the coconut to show itself on warming above the temperature I'd normally serve it at. Haven't read anything in this thread so sorry if that's old news... just a word of caution to anyone who is excited about coconut being in this beer.

Might bea better bet in that regard. Bruerys humulus palm tastes like hoppy sunblock. After that noise, I'll be happy to drink a "hint"

By all means, go for it. It's not a bad beer; it just isn't a beer that features coconut anywhere prominently other than its label.

Tasted like the enjoy by. Which is cool but I was disappointed by the lack of coconut.....

Haha damn which one ? I usually go to the Eastlake or Liberty Station store. Well, if I'm in Liberty Station I'll just head to the Stone Bistro down the block...

Had this beer tonight and it is good but a very different beer than the original. Different in malt, hop and coconut.

The original was lighter/brighter in body, mellow hop profile and toasty in the coconut aroma/flavor.

The Stone version seems all Marris Otter and dank hops (similar to Enjoy By with more Nelson)...with minimal coconut flavor. I think that besides the mash, there was minimal coconut added thereafter unlike the original which was dry hopped with toasted as well as mash.

Having brewed a coconut IPA, I know coconut can clog/absorb during fermentation so guessing they held off on the latter additions somewhere. Coconut does fade over time...so aging could be a good thing only if the coconut is over done....not in the case here.

I got one case of Woot at my store, what did you get? I know with Hunterdon that NNJ and CNJ get more than SNJ. If I could get 1cs of this I would be happy.
