Happened all the time in NY, NJ, MA area with Heady Topper. People went to the brewery, bought a shitload for $3 a can and sold it for anywhere from $8 to $12 a can. There's a 2 case per person limit now so this might die down.

lots of people seem to like them. i may be in the minority, but they raffle off EVERYTHING--single bottles of zd, anything and everything three floyds, and tend to really overhype anything they get. they have a good selection, but no better than any other bottle shop around.

You have to win a raffle for the right to pay $30 for one beer? No thanks, unless it's called Melted Gold IPA.

Let me start off by saying, in general, I have no real problem with Savor (there are two locations, Savor Market and Savor Growl). It's one of many stores that I like to frequent (I prefer Savor Growl simply because of the growler selection).

There's a few things they do that irk some people:

    1) They do raffles on almost every 'rare' beer release. They may get 1 case of Zombie Dust, and they'll raffle off individually all 24 bottles. Some people don't like this, others do. If you win, instead of getting a six-pack, you're getting a single bottle.

    2) They do hold back some beer for random events. I don't really see this as a big deal, but it does suck sometimes to see a case of Wulver or something sitting in the cooler that isn't "for sale right now".

    3) They do tend to overhype some beers. I'm not sure whether they think certain beers are very rare or they are just trying to make people think the beer is rare just to generate interest.

Other than those, and there may be more but I haven't encountered them, I find Savor to be a good beer store. Good selection, good prices, and the people working have always seemed to be helpful. It's located on Indianola Ave, which is also where Palmer's, Weiland's, and The Crest are located, so it's just one of a few stores on that street that sell plenty of craft beer.

As long as its a raffle you can get away with it in Ohio. My watering hole had a raffle for a utopias during a Sam Adams event.

If this is truly the case and it's on the up and up, and I'm shocked more places don't do this.

I wouldn't say it's the worst, but there are better stores in the Columbus area (Weiland's and Anderson's, for instance). I may be biased since I work 5 minutes from Anderson's and can pick up practically any limited release without a problem, though.

$30 for a 120 Minute is pretty outrageous, though, even a pre-aged one.

Yeah but did you win the bottle or "win" the "right" to buy the bottle..huge difference.
