I don't even know if MD has 20 breweries. Heavy Seas, Flying Dog, Evo, DuClaw, Union, Baltimore Beer Works, Brewers Art, Stillwater, Burley Oak.... Full Tilt? Baying Hound? We have a lot of really small breweries that have little to no distro yet, or haven't even begun to bottle/can.

No Anchor or Pyramid? Not sure who you replace but it's a pretty tough list to get on. How many states would have Anchor in their top 5?

I do give props to Anchor steam, but nothing else from them impressed me much.. I would consider Drakes, Marin, and Cismontane over Anchor (note: never tried an aged xmas ale, which I've heard good things about).

I only tried one beer from Pyramid... not stoked to try any others.

I'll play...alphabetically. Haven't had every single NC brewery, but have had the vast majority.

    Asheville Pizza & Brewing
    Big Boss
    Duck-Rabbit
    Foothills
    French Broad
    Fullsteam
    Green Man
    Highland
    Lonerider
    Mother Earth
    NoDa
    Olde Hickory
    Olde Mecklenburg
    Oskar Blues
    Outer Banks
    Pisgah
    Southern Appalachian
    Triangle
    Trophy
    Wicked Weed

If I had to pick a top 3, I'd say Trophy, Foothills, Wicked Weed.

Considering Yorkshire to be the equivalent of a state (or maybe even better!), I don't know about 20 but we've got some pretty good ones:

    Timothy Taylor's
    Theakstons
    Ilkley
    Leeds
    Black Sheep
    Elland
    Kelham Island
    Samuel Smith's

So, does J Wakefield actually have a brewery now? Or is that still everybodys favorite brewery that doesn't actually exist?

Don't forget Swamphead, I'd put them pretty far up on that list.

    4. Iron Hill
    5. Weyerbacher
    6. Turkey Hill
    7. Stoudts

    Kutztown Tavern
    Lancaster
