So up until today I was all set to go down to the release tomorrow. Unfortunately, I have to work now in the morning. Anyone able to hook a brother up? I could do a trade from the got's or "a more direct compensation". I've got some Deschutes stuff autographed by Cam (XXIV, Abyss, Dissident), Farmers Reserve, BA Bigfoot, etc. I live in SE PDX and would be willing to drive a reasonable distance to do an IP trade. Hit me up!

There's a chance that some bottle may hit distro. Keep your ears to the ground!

I was planning on heading down but turns out I have to work.

Here's a question though. Earlier they had said Golden Canary was going to be released 8/3 but now the list is different. Was that beer pushed back or was it turned into one of the other wild beers? What happened there?

    From Block 15's July newsletter:

"Golden Canary will not be available this summer, as it is not quite ready to blend. Nick expects to be able to blend this fall."

    That's all I got.

On my way down to this. I'll be the guy with the A's hat on. Thin. Black shoes. Probably no glass in hand.

I can't believe how good they turned out to be as a first attempt, and I got a chance to talk to Nick Arzner about them for a bit, and he said it wasn't until about the 6 month mark that they became drinkable. Amazing what wild yeast and spontaneous fermentation will do.

Phenomenal beer and I'm really excited to see what other stuff they try in the spontaneous fermentation series down the road...The unfruited was delicious as well.

This was as good if not better than Peche 'n Brett, which is really saying something considering PnB is one of my favorite beers.

They knocked it out of the park with this one.

    Yep, better than PnB.

I thought both of the Turbulent Consequences beers were excellent. The Premier Annee hasn't been discussed as much since Peche is off the charts delicious, but I think it might be better for aging. Hell I am having a hard time not opening another Peche right now.

Cheers to Nick and the Block 15 crew for another great release!

PS - The new Sticky Hands is the best yet.

I think it's a fairer comparison to match up Fantasia v. Peche, since PnB is more of a peach saison than a peach "lambic". That said, I am probably going to do a blind taste test of Fou Fone v. Peche to see which comes out on top. I'm convinced it's going to be close if not in Block 15's favor.

I'm becoming increasingly sad I missed this release :slight_frown:

True, though really that comparison would only really work in the case of the first batch of Fantasia since the second was more of a peach saison.

As far as Fou Foune goes, that's not fair as it's an apricot sour :stuck_out_tongue:

I'll say Peche is the best peach beer I've had to date. Waiting to try it alongside the new batch of Persica.

Yeah, I agree about the Annee. It was great..and will likely age better since I'm guessing the fruit will fall out of the Peche in a year or so. I'm going to try and cellar at least one or two of the Annee. Kinda sad I didn't pick up anything above the regular allocation because my wife was gave me a death stare when I said I was considering it :slight_frown:

I didn't get the death stare since I put her down for a couple peche as well. My only regret is not grabbing her allocation of the Annee as well. Both tasted great.

Oh no, it was the double allocation of Peche, the double allocation of Annee, plus some bottles of Provision and Sticky Hands that got me the death stare, especially since we were in a cramped car with two other friends and a bunch of camping gear haha.

I wish I had a mule so I could have a double allocation.

On the other hand, I did drive straight to Upright afterwards to pick up Special Herbs...

Yeah, I'm lucky to have a tolerant wife (helps that she loves sours). That said, in all likelihood I'll get to enjoy maybe 1-2 full bottles myself since everyone I know wants to try this so I'll be doing a lot of sharing haha.

Yeah my wife is very tolerant especially since she is pregnant and made the trip from Seattle to Corvallis for some beer. Hence I had to promise to hold on to some so we can enjoy together after the babies arrive  Of course since Block 15 has the best brunch releases it was my bargaining chip for her to go... lol
