Every summer I come out there to go to breweries for a few days if I can. Odell might just be my favorite brewery ever. So bummed they don't distribute to the east coast.

1.) 3 Floyds (although they're due for a drop with how hard it is to get their beers anymore)
2.) Brugge Brasserie (great sours. they used boysenberries, guava nectar, blackberries...love what Tim Miller is doing)
3.) Broad Ripple Brewpub (they brew my favorite beer in the state: ESB on cask. unbelievable)
4.) Triton (love their rye pale ale and the new Headsplitter double ipa is incredible)
5.) Flat 12 (when they're on they're great. but man they can make some shitty brews (cucumber kolsch))
6.) Bier Brewery (tremendous beers with a bottling line coming soon)
7.) Lafayette Brewing (they make some really good low abv brews)
8.) Sun King (marketing *****s. but their ipas are getting better. and they just did a really good Flanders Oud Bruin. fuck their prices on special releases)
9.) Cutters (i dig the shit out of their scotch ale. i'll never buy their imperial stout at the current $21.99 price tag)
10.) Rock Bottom: College Park (Liz is a helluva brewer. her own recipes and not the bland RB recipes are really well done)
    11.)

There are other breweries that I enjoy but they slip my mind at the moment. I wanted to save this spot down here for Upland. They have to be the most overrated brewery whose beers i've had the misfortune of drinking. It's a shame because they have some really good food but I'd rather sip on water than the crap they brew. I don't care how many overpriced sours they sell: their core lineup of beers is embarrassing. I went their last year and got a flight. Best beer was some beer made from a local homebrewer who won and had them brew his recipe. Not a knock on the homebrewer at all. Sucks he doesn't have a cutesy logo and all the licenses because he would wipe Upland out of Bloomington

20???? How about the top 5? That will probably let all of them feel the glory.

This thread made me look up and discover that CT has 29 breweries/brewpubs listed on BA. I've never heard of 9 of them.

That's why I actually like this thread. Instead of 'Naming the Top Five Breweries in Your State', which would be incredibly old hat and predictable, this thread is actually challenging and interesting.

I have heard mixed reviews but I have not tried their stuff yet. Looking forward to trying it though, def want to try but to go out to a restaurant to try it and travel to get there just hasnt happened. That is the only reason why I did not include them.

    1) Allagash
    2) Maine Beer Co
    3) Oxbow
    4) Marshall Wharf

Feel free to swap 2 and 3.

All the rest are swimming in a sea of mediocrity.

I was pretty impressed. My sis lives up around that way and I went there on my own 1 night and with her crew another. Great variety of styles, all well done. Food was solid too.

Maybe get Fitgers Brewhouse on this list? But then again, MN beer scene really amped up after I left the state several years ago, so and back then, I lived in n. MN; I haven't had many of the entries you listed so am in no position to quibble.

Mystic's on the list, but you're right...should have gotten Enlightenment in there. I dig what they're doing. I knew I'd forget one or two good ones...

I'd like to think of Moylan's as a 21st to this list.

PS. Like the respect to TAPS, their Irish Red, Remy, and some others are quite good.

I thought Pyramid is in Washington. Anchor is good, but there is so much happening in CA that it begs the question, "what have you done for me lately?" This is the exact reason Almanac is blowing up right now & on evertbody's radar. No disrespect to Anchor, their porter is stellar.

Upland makes pretty mediocre beer. I hear they have excellent sours but at this point I'm debating whether they even exist at all. Agree with Daredevil being higher.
