Love me some Blithering Idiot from Weyerbacher. But put at least six months on that puppy....watch out.

There are many underrated beers that I like :

St Pauli Girl - crisp and tasty. Not a ton going on, can't see how this is ranked so low.
St Pauli Girl Dark - Good flavor and body, lot's of taste.
Heineken - I know it's not an outstanding beer, but it's so much better than AAL's, yet is ranked right around them. Shouldn't be.
    Beck's - Same as above
Lowenbrau Original - So tasty, yet crisp and refreshing. A delicious Munich Helles that isn't rated badly, i just think it should be higher.
Saranac Pale Ale - Lot's of flavor, yet still a very refreshing Pale Ale.

Although I disagree with all but currently distributed German LO, I do think that both Heineken Dark and "Grolsch Dark", back in the Dark Ages, when marketing people decided that drinking Dark made you more sophisticated, were actually quite good, leaps and bounds better than their pale green bases. I'm not sure either one is still being produced or imported. I saw Grolsch Amber swingtops a few years ago in Wisconsin, but that's the last variation that I recall. Both Grolsch Amber and Dunkel are still listed on BA, but I haven't seen any variations since leaving the Netherlands in 2008 (coincidentally, shortly after the SAB takeover). Heineken Dark might have lasted longer in the US and, the last time I saw it, it came in cans. Like the base lager, the formula has been tweaked for mass exports (even the domestic distribution recipe has been replaced) so it's a shadow of its former self.

If you like it, it is almost by definition underrated. I like to make my own judgments.

Pilsner Urquell. An 81 for a world classic is an abomination.

The problem is, most people don't get the real thing--it's a damaged product due to a combination of green bottles, transportation nightmares and storage incompetence. We'll see if things improve with new campaigns (cans + refrigeration requirement). I'm not holding my breath as I'm yet to see any PU properly stored anywhere.

Pretty much all Mexican/Latin American beers, but Negra Modelo specifically. Think hop heads just don't like the light lager style.

Much like music, have to appreciate beers for what they are meant to be.

An 89 rating isn't shabby, but Marble's Oatmeal Stout deserves to be no lower than mid-90's, IMO.

Not sure where I stand with Left Hand's Milk Stout rating....another high 80's rating here that I think should be no lower than mid-90's, but I do feel as though the community appreciates it given the regular pro-feedback on the boards.

Negra Modelo is very good. It's lager counterpart less so, but still OK. But the rest? Pacifico? Tecate? Brahma? How are they underrated? They're piss-pour with middling ratings (except Brahma Stout, which, like NM, is in mid-70s).

I think Killian's Irish Red is highly under rated...I do not think its great but I do enjoy one and they have it listed as poor

I always confuse Killian's with Keystone. All I remember is that one has almost no taste and the other tastes like rancid dishwater. I hope someone can tell me which one is which.

The usual Cisco specials are coming over the next 5 weeks, both reserves and woods. Pechish, Lady and Kriek are the usual suspects, but no blueberry or Dark Woods this year. Instead, there's going to be Cranberry Woods, which I've been told is exceptional. If they can make up for everyone else's cranberry failures, this may significantly elevate their standing. Mine is the only review of their new Reserve Gose. And I might have underrated it myself:confused:
