I'm briefly visiting LA and SD at the end of August, and I'm going to hit The Brewery, Alesmith (to grab Vietnamese Speedway), Stone, and Alpine. However, I want to hit a bottle shop to help me fill up the rest of the bottle shippers I'm sending home. If you could only hit one in Los Angeles, which would it be?

There's three fairly close to the bruery that I'd recommend. Hacienda Beverage, which can be hit or miss. Walnut Liquorette, the furthest of the bunch but sometimes has some older cellared stuff for sale . Then Mr K's, which might as well be in the same parking lot as the bruery.

Probably Hi-Time (in Costa Mesa) because pretty much everything's in a huge walk-in. You can also visit Portola Coffee which is on the way.

I buy most of my nice one-offs at Ramirez Liquor. They have two stores now, Boyle Heights (near Downtown LA) and in Pico Rivera. They get everything that's distributed in the LA area, but, most of their "desirable" beers are gone hours after they post on social media. It's all timing! That being said, they carry a very nice selection of craft beers everyday.

If you're in OC - Hi-Time mentioned above is a great place.

This place is a little out of the way but if you're driving to/from LA and SD through the 15, then there's a world-class bottleshop called El Cerrito in Corona, a few miles from the 91/15 junction.

You guys have been a huge help. Thanks to all of you.

Also, I just realized that in my first ever BA post I misspelled The Bruery. I should probably just throw myself off of a bridge.

I go to Liquor Mart as well. Liquor Mart is not better than Ramirez Liquor and El Cerrito, let alone "much better." Liquor Mart is one of the better bottleshops in SoCal, I buy my share of special releases and other harder to get shelf beers from them. Liquor Mart is comparable to Ramirez, El Cerrito, and Hi Time. Each have their pros/cons.

Not to hate on Walnut, but the dude is coming in from out of town and I don't think Walnut is one of the places we should be sending a visitor. Not to mention he'd have to go out of his way to go there.

All I'm saying is I've had some good luck at Walnut picking up older vintages of bottles. I will say they don't seem to be getting newer vintages in as often as other stores though.
