I got a mule over there man! He just needs direction:slight_smile:. I guess it wouldn't help much though because I would be getting his allocations! Maybe we could split them...

Your mule is not a particularly effective mule hahaha

Nope, he needs to be trained. I'm pretty sure he doesn't have an automobile, so he also needs a ride. But in the end it works out for me:slight_smile:

How is the special herbs? Never had a chance to try the original SC release, but I did have the reggae junkie a while back on tap.

You will never find a bottle of special herbs at Upright.

I thought it's still called Special Herbs.

IMO, it's the best beer they've made this year.

Well since I missed out, it's good to hear that the beer was disappointingly bad.

To those who attended, what was the release like? Long line early in the AM? Tickets handed out? First come first served? Thanks

Best thing about Block15 releases you typically have 2 options. First one is to sign up early for brunch reservations at Les Caves (their restaurant right next door) when they announce the release or you can line up at the tap room and wait. I go with the brunch option because not only is the food great and they have at least one of the releases on tap it secures your allocation. Decide what you want, enjoy your brunch and then go pick up your beer.

This release was in comparison to the Pappys Dark & Super Nebula release was very calm and quiet. Brunch was steady but not packed and the taproom was about half full. In all the releases I have gone too this is my favorite type of setup.

I talked to Nick (head brewer) and he said they learned a lot from the Super Nebula release. They weren't expecting it to be quite as busy as it was and they ran out of bottles so he had to sell the ones he would normallly have held back for the cellar stash releases.

He said now he bases the allocation on assuming brunch will be completely full for all slots and to cover 50 people in line. This is probably why their limits have been lower than they were in the past.

Really, I can't say how much I appreciate how much trouble Block 15 goes through to make their releases smooth and to give locals and those shut out of brunch a shot at bottles. Like TysonA said, being able to get a brunch reservation and have great food along with a guaranteed allocation is absolute genius.

Oh, and not only are their releases great, so is the beer

We rolled up a few minutes after 10:30 (they had already opened the doors and started selling bottles) and there was about 10 people in front of us. I've only been to a few of Block 15 releases, but even when there is a 'long' line before they open, it goes really smooth. No tickets needed.

2.5 hours this year vs. 13 last year. Guess they're getting the dreaded "name". The brunch release sounds awesome though:

"This years blend is 40% Imagine, 30 % Super Nebula, & 30% Nebula matured in bourbon casks with vanillia pods and aeropressed coffee beans! 11.1% AVB"

    YUM :grimacing:

May have been 2.5 hours for some, but I got the email about an hour ago, and it said sold out less than 30 minutes after I got the email.

Gotcha, didn't know they went on sale until I got the first email at 11:30... O well, I somehow got 1 ticket after trying to add to cart about 5 times.
