Ok. Would beer geeks like an "on tap app"?

What are your thoughts on this? We are in the process of making an on tap app for the Brewhouse and all of our locations that we pour our beer at. Is this something people would like to download and when there is something new on tap, you would get a notification... We would have a list of beer on tap, one could click on that beer and get all the stats, description (malts, hops, etc.) and picture. Ideas, thoughts?

This would be very beneficial. I would like to see other establishments doing this as well.

It should also include what growlers are available as well.

It would be cool if when you click on the beers it comes with the description and also notes from others who have had it before. And also a recommended pairing for each beer.

I would add to the chorus of Yes's. I will say, though, that you are getting yourself into deeper waters. Once that is available, people will use it and expect it to be current. Obviously within reason, but make sure this is up to date. It can be frustrating when places have features like this that don't really give the current information.

Wouldn't be an issue. It will feed of a database the brewers update when they put on a new beer or fill growlers. Simple.

I thought of something similar. You are driving around and an app tells you what is near by and currently on tap. Obviously you would need the craft bars to keep updated lists and join in. I like what you are trying to do here.

C'mon now the Lowry's and Uptown Tavern's pre-prohibition beer list are both nostalgic and romantic. President Taft's favorite English Bitter is a must have!

I know that on the gut level, everybody basically chimes in yes to something like this, but the reality is that who the hell wants to download a different app for every beer bar/brew pub that they like? I know that I certainly don't. It is a ridiculous waste of space on your phone and is completely inefficient for consumers who frequently like to know what beers are on at several bars at one time. Obviously there are apps that already coordinate this data in different ways and with varying degrees of success.

My recommendation for any brewpub/beer bar is to work more closely with the various existing apps that are aggregates across many businesses and then for your own business focus on a mobile version of your own businesses website and make sure that the beer list is updated daily. It is a lot easier for somebody to bookmark all of their favorite bars mobile sites and pop in and out of those when they want to see each places lists, than to store and launch an app for every place that they like.

Yes, I know...first world problems when comparing the space/time saved by a mobile site versus an app, but fixing first world problems is what I do. Plus, it will save on development costs.
