I know not technically a Scotch Ale....what are thoughts on Harviestoun Brewery's Ola Dubh Special Reserve beers?

Yeah, with all the revivals, that one needs to be on top of the list! Oh and, Airedales rule!

I'll third the MacAndrews Scotch Ale (a.k.a. Caledonian Strong Ale), but Caledonian don't list it at all on their site, neither in bottles or as a monthly guest beer. I guess Heineken is just not interested in making money.....at least they could export their 80/- back to the states

And, on the lighter side, Pelican MacPelican Scottish Ale. And Boundary Bay Scotch Ale is pretty good, too.

Funny...was just discussing this beer with some buddies. HIGHLY underrated in my opinion...especially at $7 a bomber.

Regular Wee Heavy: CCB Big Sound
BA Wee Heavy: Bourbon BA Big Sound

IMHO all wee heavies pale in comparison to Big Sound. It's just such a big, bold, tasty Wee Heavy unlike any other I've had.

I gotta say Alesmith's Wee Heavy is one of the best out there. And the BA version is stellar.

No love for Belhaven Wee Heavy?

Also, if you can get your hands on it, you gotta try Rohrbach's Scotch Ale.

If you're near/around northern virginia, Mad Fox has an awesome Wee Heavy. I have a growler of their oaked wee heavy waiting for me and I think it's comparable to Backwoods Bastard.

Funny that you asked I just opened a Kilt Flasher Wee Heavy Scotish Ale from Devil's Backbone brewery. I got it in a trade good beer a little on the sweet side.

Scotty Karate, Dirty Bastard, and Backwoods Bastard are all absolutely amazing.
Thirsty Dog Twisted Kilt and Dragonmead Under the Kilt are delicious too, but second tier in my eyes.

    None should be smokey.
    All should be sweet.

I'll throw in for one that doesn't get mentioned enough--Pisgah Wee Heavy, and even better--Wee Heavy-er.

A strong ale from Scotland. Can't think of a better one to represent the thread. Good choice.
