Agree, the maple was unlike any other beer (except maybe fresh FB Maple Bacon, talk about an amazing side by side) and that is what really put it ahead for me. Just really dig the maple, everything else was amazing too (mouthfeel, roast, body sweetness) but the maple put it over the top.

 

Yeah, guess we'll see how something with a known name like Double Barrel Damon does when that comes out. That'll have a low bottle count I assume.

 

It costs a ton for a 375ml bottle, so I would guess similar bottle counts.

 

Yeah, $20 for a 375 is steep. Imagine a limit 1 300ish count. Hopefully a ton of awesomeness though.

 

Rare is in no way faded, when was the last time you had it? I had it in the past few months and it's still awesome!

 

I actually prefer the current "faded" Rare. Does that mean my palate is shitty? And what the fuck are people talking about in this thread anyway? Did this site merge with Video Game Advocate?

Unlike any beer? Can't imagine it was more maple-y than lawsons maple triple or some other sap beer.

FWIW, I had one back in May and I thought it was amazing. Better than the '09 Bomber, better than Vanilla. Granted that was my first time drinking Rare, but if that's what faded Rare tastes like, I can't imagine how good it was originally. I wouldn't hesitate to open it for your 40th.
