So, the 2013 features Sorachi Ace, the 2012 featured Citra...

What hop did the 2011 feature?

    Thanks!

Launched 2007. Retired 2011. Replaced with an annual release, starting in 2012, using a different hop each year.

The last time we had Duvel Tripel hop back in early 2011 we were blown away by the bright pungent and spicy hop character that the Czech Saaz, English Styrian Goldings, and American Amarillo hops brought to the party. Now for the 2012 release they are utilizing the highly regarded Citra hops as the American varietal addition. They describe the beer as "dominating the palate with a vibrant and zesty taste of lemon, pepper, orange peel, biscuit, citrus and toast." I am very excited for this one!

    True that!

The Citra last year made it bright and refreshing and zesty - and this year's Sorachi Ace seemed to confer this rugged, earthy, rustic flavor - great stuff!

    Cheers!

Yeah, I couldn't wait either - stoked to see the four-packs on the shelf today (drank 'em all as of this typing - lol)

It comes in 4-packs? I've only seen past vintages in 750s, and at $20 each I only tried it once.
Hopefully they package it like this for the West Coast too.

I was expecting a bomber, too - and surprised to see the 4-pack - but delighted, too!

They had this as one of the "experimental" tastings at Snommegang in March, and I've been anticipating it ever since. Was pouring at Belgium Comes to Cooperstown this past weekend, and was every bit as good as I remembered. Hopefully doing a little bottle shopping this week!

4-packs of Tripel Hop? Apparently the beer gods do listen . . .

I LOVED the 2011 version, and actually did not know (until it was past its prime) that 2012 was a different hop variety. Will definitely try this if I can find it in a 4 pack as opposed to a 750mL.

We got 4 packs at our store so it exists in MA right now.

The 2012 I had in a bomber was overly sweet and very odd. Not what I was expecting and not very drinkable. Plus I was slightly drunk at the time.
