So I finally cracked my first Citra Ninja tonight. Holy cow. Its like Zombie Dust but better.

 

we think of it as an imperial zombie

 

we love you guys! man are we excited about getting to a bigger place... but we have to do it organically... we aren't taking the big money offers... we have a lot to work on ourselves before we try to zoom ahead.

i know i said we'd have big bottle shop news soon... which we should... but we are still in negotiations that will either go through this week (or early next) or they'll probably go cold and dead if not then... so fingers crossed for this to go through... we do have a backup plan in place if not. we are ever thankful for the BA community (and rb, untappd etc.). we just want to do right by you all and we know once we can cross these certain hurdles we'll really be the pipeworks everyone expects us to be... it's frustrating on our end to work within our constraints but still run a business in a way that will allow us to grow in the organic way (i.e. we need to be conservative). we see ourselves doing more draft, more barrel aged beer (our current stock is really just a test), starting our sour program, and also coming through on our donor promises. we do know that if we do what we are doing now, we'll be able to fulfill all those things without sacrificing our security as a company... because we always say what good is a brewery if we do all those things and then it goes out of business because we overreached.... then we are nothing to nobody... patience is the key for us.

Anyone else headed to the Aviary event next Tuesday? I don't often get to get my fancy on at the same time as I am getting my Pipeworks on, and I'm looking forward to it.

 

Oh man, Beer Temple tweeted that RTA is back.

This is true. Just got back from Binny's of LZ and they were stocked with RTA. Grabbed myself a couple bottles and some Citra (I figured it would be this week). Yes!! I didn't miss out this time.

 

Must say it was a welcomed surprise from pipeworks! Got mine from the beer temple today, word is Chris just got in his own car and drove to the brewery to pick it up so it will probably arrive at more places tomorrow

 

Maybe i talked to you in line? We talked about torrent sites?

 

I believe that's what he does most of the time. Whenever I see him post pipeworks I know it will start to trickle out around town over the nex few days.

 

before anyone freaks out only a few cases of RTA went out today... FwB bottles should ship tomorrow and friday.

Wasn't me. I missed the rush. Was in and out pretty quick. Citra must have gone fast because there were only a few bottles left by the time I got there.

 

Was wondering if anyone else got a bad bottle of Citra Ninja from West Lakeview. I got a case from the castle and all were top notch. I cracked the one I bought from west lakeview last night and it was flat and overly malty. I drain poured it. I've heard of atleast 4 others that said the same. This is my favorite citra beer. So I was really dissapointed when I drank it yesterday. I know it hasnt fallen off in one week. I hope there wasn't too many bad bottles out there.

So while I'm sure they want to showcase the new caps on the latest batches, there's nothing wrong with dipping them in the appropriate colored wax, ala CBA, RTA, etc, right? If that might be considered wasting them, there's gotta still be some of the plain black ones to use on the wax-top stouts, no? Then again, apparently people aren't really "aging" the bottles either, are we? I guess this was just my worthless 2¢.

 

i had a date sugar yeast magik a couple weeks ago that was dead flat, i posted about it here but haven't heard any other cases of flat pipeworks beers.
