I respect New Belgium. Especially their experimental beers, but this one is beyond me. Each sip is worse than the last. Am I just in a bad mind set? What flavors should I be seeking?

Plum and apricot? Just a guess, as I haven't had it.

Yes according to the packaging (brilliant artwork for what its worth) it is a plum-apricot hybrid.

What does it taste like, and what is it about it that you find unpleasant?

That may be because pluots completely fucking suck. Sorry you hated it, but I appreciate the knowledge this... thing exists.

I guess I should mention I'm running for the head of Pluot Haters Assembly. So, there is that bias.

Normally a fan of NB though.

Made the mistake of buying a bomber of it last night because I wanted to try something new and I normally really enjoy New Belgium beer. I really should have checked the beeradvocate review before I bought it, but I was stupid. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm gonna take the plunge on Friday...worst case it is just a drain pour

I hated that beer. Tasted like Bud Light and Capri Sun. Maybe i just don't like the style...

You may want to email the brewmaster and critique the beer vs. the style. It could be fun.

I didn't think you could taste the Pluots because any flavor was overrun by the belgian yeast strain. Did not really like it....

I absolutely LOVE pluots. Haven't had the beer though.

I have been a little disapointed with the last few offerings of the Lips of Faith series. Seems they have been over-reaching IMO.

I thought it tasted like a badly fermented malt liquor with fruit added. Plastic, tannins, booze, bit of brett, way too thick. Not as bad as the Cascara Quad was though.

Damn, gonna hafta check the reviews now, love bad reviews, some of the best reading on BA.

Edit: Someone ended their review, "...avoid at all costs."

I love the fruit, they're almost as good as white plums. But hearing so much dislike for this beer makes me glad I didn't pick it up when I saw it on my recent vacation. Fruit beers aren't really my thing anyway.

I thought it was alright. Definitely unique, not one I'd buy again, but I drank the whole thing.

If the beer sucks...blame the brewer.

Pluots are absolutely awesome pieces of fruit.

Yeah I didn't enjoy it either....It was like white wine or something.
But live and learn, part of the joy of buying beer without checking BA ratings.
I don't always agree with the ratings anyways, it's more fun to taste the beer first and then look it up IMHO.
