Unfortunately I have to attend a memorial service in Monterey, CA on Monday. Plan on hitting Sainte Adarius while I'm in the area. Looking for your suggestions for farm to table restaurants with quality beer selections in the area and also for good bottle shops. Hoping to show the deceased's mother a good time while we are out there.

If you plan on hitting Sante Adairius, you might as well go to Discretion as well... a few miles up the road.

Bottles shops on the Peninsula... Rogers in Marina, Post No Bills in Sand City, Whole Foods and Bottles-n-Bins in Monterey.

    Stumped on the farm-to-table....

Any chance you'd go as far south as Big Sur? Big Sur Bakery isn't just a bakery; it has some of the best "farm-to-table" food in the area. Plus, the Big Sur Taphouse recently opened next door with a pretty decent taplist and Pliny by the bottle.

If you are in Monterey proper check out Cannery Row Brewing Company. It is not a brewery but they do have over 70 taps of good beer. The beer selection is usually really good but the crowd kinda sucks and its kinda spendy. Go in the afternoon when it will prob be less busy...good luck. If you are close by it is definitely worth it

I would second the Big Sur Bakery rec. It's almost difficult to find "bad" food in Big Sur in general. Another place I've heard good things about is Cachagua General Store, a ways out in Carmel Valley.

If you're headed up Santa Cruz way, I would rec La Posta on Seabright. I see the head chef shopping every weekend at Cabrillo Farmers Market.

Thanks for the suggestions all. Will be in the area from Thursday-Monday so SARA will be no problem. Will check out Big Sur Bakery when I'm down in that area. Keep the suggestions coming.

Try Lokal for low key Farm-to-Fork eating (brunch, burgers, etc), and they also have Czech beer!

If you like seafood, there are some great choices. Passionfish is outstanding.

    Reservations recommended.

Nice, that's only a few blocks from where I'm staying in Pacific Grove.

Wasn't gonna stop there anyway, if they call themselves a brewery but don't actually brew and have 70 guest taps. That has bad idea written all over it but thanks for confirming my suspicion.

Monterey sucks major ass when it comes to good beer. Stone even stopped disturbing there for a while because it sucks so bad there for sales, I think they are back now. Monterey Brewing Company does suck but it has the best beer on tap for 50 miles so I would still recommend it to people in the area...

"Cannery Row Brewing Co", and sadly that kind of attitude is why a crappy establishment such as them will continue to remain in business <smh> :slight_frown:

So you're saying you don't like Cannery Row Brewing Co? Just trying to confirm.

I would say I am neutral when it comes to Cannery Row, but when stuck in the Monterey beer desert, Cannery Row Brewing is a rare oasis. If you are dying of thirst check it out...

    Sorry, inside joke.

I've been there. The space is beautiful and they've got some decent stuff on tap, I'll say that.

I'll let ya know if I go and what I think. Probably wont make it, funeral will be taking up a majority of the time in the area. If its a restaurant with a solid tap selection that would work best.
