Shipyard Pumpkin sucks! Well, that's the rumor, anyway...

New Belgium: my most overrated brewery. I have tried so hard to like them and I just can't find a single beer that I would give an 8/10.

I tried it a couple weeks ago. The base tripel isn't very good. It's got this solvent character that doesn't work well with the sweet fruit. Perennial's pluot tripel (Violet) was much better.

You didn't like their Abbey Belgian Style Ale??

New Belgium Lips of Faith that are not tier 1 (the highest) are pretty beat. I've heard their ditching the tiers and just having la folie be more expensive, but in the past I thought the biere de garde and la folie were amazing, as was a Imp coffee choc stout.

Some of them, like the pluot, seem like gimmicky methods (always using fruit you'd only see at an Asian market) of trying to get sales just being "different."

Haven't had it. I grab up anything I can from them, but apparently I haven't found any of their more artistic brews despite being in their distro area right now. I've tried all their 6-pack stuff. If I see it I will definitely give it a go. I'm not a hater, I'm actually trying to like them, haha.

You are aware, no doubt, that this site is dedicated to keeping people from making the mistakes you say they should make anyway?

If I was rich maybe I would see the tiniest value in your advice, probably not, but since I am not rich, I gotta respectfully say that what you recommend is completely ridiculous.

Really? Well, I'm quite surprised by that. But again, I will definitely buy it if I come across it. So far I've had their Sunshine Wheat, Rolle Bolle, Fat Tire, Ranger IPA, Snow Day, Dig, Loft, and Blue Paddle. I haven't been impressed by any yet... but I am about to try their 1554 in about a half hour so maybe that will change? I'll keep you updated. Either way, I've unfortunately seen no Beglian-Styles from them.

Most of the recent Lips of Faith series releases have given me the impression of being more about the adjuncts than the beer, and I think the beer has suffered as a result. Cascara Quad, Heavenly Feijoa, Paardebloem, and Pluot were all huge disappointments for me. Not what I want from the series that gave us La Folie, Eric's Ale, and Cocoa Molé.

FWIW, my wife LOVED this beer.

I thought it was way too damn sweet myself.

Pretty much what other people have been saying. Cloyingly sweet, with a yeast profile that is unappealing. Luckily I picked up a couple Parabolas with it, so the night wasn't a total loss.

Finally tried it over the weekend and I won't ever buy this again. It started off ok, wasn't good, but I was able to drink it. By the time I finished about half of the bomber I couldn't stand the sweet aftertaste of it and it became way too sweet for me. It almost smelt like apple juice too, but I'm not sure if that was the pluot (I really don't know what a pluot is besides a fruit).

No, it's terrible. I'm not even sure what they were going for.
