Zwanze Day 2013

Any word on how this is going to go down at JK yet? Been quiet for a while.

 

I confirmed with Avenue Pub that there will in fact be glassware for sale this year. However, they are unsure of what it will look like at the moment. If I had to guess, they'll post a pic when it comes in on Facebook.

 

I'll trade you an AVE glass for a JK one ;-)

 

Confirmed that I'll be missing this. Going to be in MI... Sadly I can't even make the Chicago one as I'll be on a plane.

 

Its not like there are a shortage of places to visit in MI

 

I realize that... Just won't be able to get to Detroit to visit Kuhnhenn.

 

That's too bad. If you want some MI advice feel free to shoot me a BM. I go up there fairly often for work and I'll be there next week in fact.

 

I love going to founders, but was wondering if I should check out Bells, New Holland, or Dark Horse. Also, have you been to the Hop Cat?

 

Whether you go to Dark Horse or not, you should def bring back some Plead the 5th.

Never been to New Holland but I would recommend Founders for food over Bells if you have to make that decision. Bells was cool and they have a lot on tap that you won't be able to find out side of the brewery. But make sure to check their website to see what they have on tap. When I was there last they had Wild One on tap. I didn't go to HopCat because I have had everything they had on at the time and it was a decision between that or Bells. Dark Horse doesn't have a lot of taps but the people that work there are super cool. Definitely a cool place to hang out for a little while and they usually have some interesting bottles to take home.

 

Hop Cat's an awesome spot! Last time there was drinking Arcadia Ship Wreck Porter. Speaking of which, Arcadia is in same area (between Bells and Dark Horse). And Dark Horse is definitely worth the visit. They have an upstairs tasting room that you can visit if you take a tour of the brewery. They had BBPt5 when we were there but none available for purchase, unfortunately. Bell's Eclectic Cafe was fun. Different vibe from Founders but we enjoyed it. Too bad about Kuhnhenn! Awesome place with awesome beers! A little closer to Indiana... but Green Bush in Sawyer is a good place as well. I'm sure whichever places you hit... they'll be memorable.

 

I'll be really close to Green Bush. We will be in Niles which is pretty much North Indiana.

Update on this - is anyone else from Dallas making the trip to Jester King?
