Can anyone tell me what the best options are for shelf barrel aged stouts, barleywines and american strong ales?

My coworker is going on a trip to San Diego and is willing to grab some beer for a friend and myself.

I love Older Viscosity, Deliverance, and Angel's Share!

    Cheers and thanks!

All of those are just sitting on shelves if you go to the right stores. Pretty much any BevMo will have Older Viscosity and Deliverance and any random liquor store that carries their seasonal release stuff will probably have Angel's Share.

If you go to Alesmith, they may or may not still have BA Old Numbskull (I heard that they do) and BA Wee Heavy. There are a lot of options at some of the specialty stores, as well.

K n B bottleshop had a few Alesmith BA Weeheavy on the shelves last I was there. They were like $36/bottle I think.

BA Wee Heavy disappeared from the brewery a month or so back, and I wouldn't be surprised to see the Numbskull disappear after tomorrow's wing ding.

BA Wreck Alley is still around some places. I really enjoy the regular version and have been dying to try the BA version but it's too expensive...

I think you're trolling with the too expensive comment. But it was $9 up here in the Bay Area and it honestly wasnt very good for a BA Stout. Very little barrel character at all. Much prefer regular Wreck Alley

You're right - esp. since at this point it could almost qualify as a "sour" BBA stout.

You might be thinking of the regular version. I have also only seen it for $15 or above in SD...I would pay $9 but have never tried it since it's pricey. Their previous Anny ales )this year excluded) were pretty cheap for BA beers.

Definitely talking about the BA version. I've seen it from 8.99-12.99. I'll check my shop and see if there's any still left and take a picture. It surprised me to see such a cheap BA beer, then I tasted it

I believe you. Just very weird since it is so expensive here in the city it's produced. Oh well if it sucks though.
