Hey all. My wife is out of town for a couple weeks in Hawaii, so I'm going to drown my jealousy in beer. I'll be taking a trip from the Twin Cities to Casanova's in Hudson to load up on beer that I can't get at home. Any suggestions? I'm planning to drop around $100 or so and I've got growlers to fill as well as buying bottles.

Why didn't you accompany her to Hawaii?

Wish I could. But I can't for a couple reasons. Started a new day job recently and it's too soon for a vacation. She's also going with friends, so it's kind of a girls-only event.

Growlers of Toppling Goliath. Sounds like Alesmith just landed as well in bottles.

I am doing the same next weekend! I plan on hitting up Casanova's for some growlers/bombers. Can you drink there as well (as in try the beer)? Or is it just off-sale? Stupid MN laws skew my perspective of everything.

Then there's a place called Stone Tap in Hudson we plan on hitting up. Nice tap list. Usually have some New Glarus, FFF, and Dave's BrewFarm on tap.

New Glarus Strawberry rhubarb is awesome. Serendipity and rasberry tart are good but nothing special.

    Anything TG.

OSkar blues ten fidy and their IPAs are awesome

You can drink and buy growlers in the Nova restaurant. The bottle shop is off-sale only.

Cool, thanks all. Most of this was already on my list, so I guess this confirms my picks! Any other suggestions, let me know! I'm probably heading there tomorrow evening.

My girlfriend is headed out of town this weekend when I get back in town, so make sure you post any monsters you find over there, as I may be making a run this weekend myself!

Treat yourself to 3F Golden Blend. It's like $26 a bottle but worth the experience once. That should leave you enough left for 4 TG Growlers and a 4 pack of NG Wild Sour.

I think that Cassanova posts a photo of their grower pour list every Friday on their twitter account or at least it seems like that pattern from what I have seen.

I had a rare evening out on saturday and stopped in at the Stone Tap. Nice place, fairly reasonable pint prices, and good selection. They had a couple of Dave's offering, Ale Asylum, Lift Bridge, etc. Would have liked to see more New Glarus, all they had was spotted cow.

Made a stop at American Sky brewery as well-was there 1 year anniversary party. Citra pale ale was good, but they had a vanilla porter on tap that was one of the most thin, watery, bland beers I can ever recall drinking. Really hit and miss there

Maybe it's something about that style? Every vanilla-flavored Porter I've had has matched this profile.

I had a bottle of American Sky IPA and thought it was pretty good. I need to check out their brewery one of these days.

Their IPA is pretty darn good.

They also had a 'cream ale' that was part of my flight that I did not finish. All you guys that like sours might enjoy it though

    Sour Cream Ale*? :grimacing:

(*Maybe it pairs well with "Ruffles" plain potato chips...)

Sour cream ale. As if cream ale wasn't a bad enough name.
