I am moving to North Bergen in a little over a week and was wondering what are some good bottleshops and bars in the area. I already know what is to be had in NYC, so just wondering what there is out in that area of Jersey. Also if there are any tasting groups nearby that would welcome someone new, let me know Thanks!
Super Buyrite and Barcade both located in Jersey City are the best local spots. A few other bottle shops in JC/Hoboken but nowhere comes close to the price/selection of Super Buyrite.
If you're out here in time come to Jersey City for Barcade's 1st Anniversary Party. Gonna be a great time
Thanks a lot for the info. Barcade looks like a pretty sweet place. I will be moving to my girlfriends place in NYC on Saturday, and staying there till my lease in North Bergen starts on May 1. I may have to check that party out.
Also be sure to check out the Coppermine Pub in North Arlington, not too far away....top notch drafts.
Welcome to the neighborhood! All the above suggestions are good ones. I'd also add Hoboken Vine for a bottle shop, nice selection, a real BA/trader beer guy, and parking, which is a pain in the ass in Hoboken. Also check out Pilsener Haus beer garden, particularly if you like German beer; they always have Weihenstephener on tap among many others, it's a fun hang, especially outside in nice weather. Killer pretzels and other snacks too. I like Totowa Liquor Outlet or whatever it's called off of route 46, worth a stop if you're in that neck of the woods. JC buyrite is excellent, best prices, although once in a while I go in there and the stock is really depleted...don't hesitate to go back if that happens to you. There is actually a brewery in North Bergen, New Jersey Beer Co., they have some draft accounts but you can also go by and have some samples, growlers, pints, etc. on friday nights...I'm not going to say the beer is all that good but they're trying and very local, I try to support the guys from the neighborhood a bit.
Hey Aaron, it's Toby here; sorry i forgot your name, we only met once but we talked for quite a while and I left with a Boogoop and a New Holland Dragon's Milk. Really liked your store, I'll definitely be back in soon!
Thanks for all the input. Once I move in I will have to start making the rounds and checking these places out. Hopefully I will run into some of yall.
actually still have both on the shelves. We got a second 6pack of boogoop and 2 seem to still be lingering around. Lots of other awesome stuff in stock right now. Was told Wookie Jack on Tuesday. Plenty of Sucaba on the shelf with no limit and i think it's 15.99. I'm going to approach my boss about letting me put us on beermenus.com because our selection is solid but not huge so it would be easy to maintain.
Yeah thats only a half hour north of north bergen while he can get all of the same stuff ramsey will have going to jersey city buy rite, hoboken vine, rutherford wine shoppe, or stew leonards in clifton. Ramsey is a great store once you're ready to venture out further into the suburbs
3W to 17N, 30 mins sounds about right as long as you don't try it during peak traffic hours. There's also another beer place on 17N just before you hit Mahwah, can't remember the name though. Sort of a wholesale place but if you're not looking for anything exotic you might find it there slightly cheaper.
You guys are trying to make this guy drive around the world. Start with buy-rite jersey city and hoboken vine for pretty much everything craft available in nj at stores. Barcade Jersey City, Andy's Corner Bar, The Copper Mine, Iron Monkey for everything available at bars. Those are all very close to North Bergen. Also Linwood wines in fort lee I guess is fairly close.
Thanks a lot for the input. Im in the city this week, and move in to my place in jersey May 1. I already checked out Buy-rite, and was very impressed. I will check out Hoboken Vine and the bars yall suggested next week.
