Finally got around to filling in my vintage crate. Snugly fits many bombers and 750's. + BCBS case and my lambic corner, that haven't made it into the main fridge.

Got some new stuff in. Finally got round to snapping a picture of "Part 2" of the cellar.

Really happy with my Molen collection at the moment. Big fan of their stuff, especially vintages. Still got 3 exclusive test bottlings as little personal treasures.

Downside: they're IPAs :slight_frown: should drink them really.

Does waxing a beer slow down its aging? I thought alot of what happens when it ages is oxygen getting into the beer over time

From what I've read, no it does not. (Apparently wax is oxygen-permeable so it doesn't stop oxygen from getting near the cap, although I have no idea how important oxygen infiltration of the cap really is, my guess is not important at all but I don't know.) If done correctly it will prevent caps from rusting, but if done incorrectly it will actually cause caps to rust faster. (The only time I've seen a fairly young beer with a rusted cap was a waxed bottle of Darkness.)

I do not think it effects the aging process. I use it as a sort of warning for leaky caps. The pressure escaping will produce a bubble in the wax. As mentioned above, it can cause rust if you trap moisture. Do not wax cold bottles since the will have condensation on them.

    It also looks really cool!!!

What kind of fridge is that on the bottom of the first picture? How many does it hold? And are those 12oz?

Finally got around to taking pics of my setup.

Was fortunate enough to win a commercial beer fridge for free from a local liquor store when I was living in Boston. Covered the inside of the glass door with a cardboard cutout to avoid any light from getting through. I've been saving hundreds of beer labels (peeled off the bottle and 'laminated' by using clear shipping tape to fix the label to printer paper) to replace the Bud Light ads. I've also been saving bottle caps to replace the cardboard cutout at some point. Gonna look pretty sick when it's done.

Originally had four rows, but I rearranged them to fit my large format bottles. Bottom row is for 750 mL bottles, middle row is for 22 oz bombers and 375 mL gueuzes, and top row is for all my 12 oz bottles. Also have an Excel spreadsheet on my computer that has beer/brewery name, style, abv, bottle date, and precise location in the fridge for easy browsing without opening the door.

All in all, I'm able to hold over 100 bottles in the fridge and have the temp set at 53 degrees for ideal aging/drinking (has a digital temp controller on the back).

Next to the fridge is my 'bar' area with all my glasses, photos my girlfriend took at Allagash, and a couple beer flight paddles for decoration.

Hah, I quite like the irony of the 'Bud Light' fridge! Good idea on the labels, I should do that to decorate the inside of my cellar's door.

Also, I see some Gueuze Tilquin and Logsdon, good stuff!
