Unless they bottled another batch, it was indeed bad.

Not feeding off anything but the fact it was a bad beer.

well its to my understanding that the only thing to change was... that they put it in bottles. the only real way to tell would be a fresh tapped keg orrrr to get it from the brewery itself on a tour. Im going to be testing this theory so ill keep y'all posted haha

Unless it's a new batch the keg will be old as well, but will fare better than a bottle made at the same time.

And even if they used the same exact ingredients at the same ratios, something was off. The hops either sat too long and were stale or it was bottled and sat way to long before distribution.

The hops were soapy and old tasting.

Agreed, it was definitely lacking that crisp flavor regardless

Just chiming in to the chorus that this beer was not very good. It was just bitter with no notes of fruit or pine. I will stick with Endeavour.

Very interesting. I drank a bottle of Valkyrie at whole foods Dallas (Lakewood) last week. It's not the same as the pro am, but it was very good. Bright hops flavor - Very fresh. People must be getting different beers, because these descriptions I'm seeing are not what I had.

Right when it came out, I had it on tap and it was really good.... the bottle I had two weeks later... not nearly as good.

    Who knows...

It was on cask at Third Floor a week or two ago. I thought it was pretty good. I never had proam 12 though.

Bought a pint+.9 bottle in Ft Worth yesterday and opened it tonight. Lots of solid looking residue on the bottom so I poured carefully. Carbonation seemed ok but taste was just bitter, no flavor. I'm assuming it's not a bad beer, but a bad batch. Unfortunately, I've not had pro-am before so I can't make that comparison. I've had poor ipas and dipas before, this seemed like something was just wrong. I don't recall seeing yeast or other residue in ipas before, either.

Obviously sir, you'd never had Heady Topper.

Protip: this is not Heady Topper. Also, Pro-Am 2012 was clear as a bell, iirc.

There's so many things wrong with this beer. I want to get a magical awesome bottle though.

Like I said before, i've had it in bottle and draft where it tasted very close to PA12, and I've had it in bottle and draft where it tasted nothing like it. And I can relate with the soapy and old hop taste with the ones that were nothing like PA12. I'm still sticking to my theory that it was in 2 of their fermenters and something with wrong in one of them.

Had again on tap this time at whole Foods Dallas (Lakewood). Again excellent. Huge, bright grapefruity hops in both nose and flavor. I'm a brewer with 30 years experience and know IPA/IIPA styles very well. The only things I see worthy of complaint might be:
    1 appearance - hazy
2 mouth feel - a bit thin as the beer seems quite attenuated. but I think it works for the beer.
3 Its nothing at all like the pro am 12 -just a completely different beer altogether.

I'll ask my SS connection. I know they just got more barrels today for Black Crack Rd2. He said it will be same as last time. But then again, so was Valkyrie.
