I really hope I can participate in some of these festivities. Unfortunately, I don't get out of class until 1PM on Saturdays.

I don't think going to Aveune Pub is a mistake. Our plan, which we'll post details on soon, is to give away free samples of the keg of Zwanze. We won't be able to accommodate everyone, so we're planning on having a random drawing of names. Aside from free samples of the Zwanze keg, Saturday, 9/14 will be like a normal tasting room day at Jester King. There will however be Zwanze t-shirts and glassware available for purchase, and I suspect there may be interest in a bottle share, which of course is welcome.

There are some obvious legal issues in Texas that make holding a world-class beer event challenging if not impossible (i.e. the extremely high licensing fees). Because of this, we don't feel we can compete with Aveune Pub. We wish we could and hope to someday!

Plus, it looks like Avenue Pub will have beer from Trois Dames on Zwanze Day, which if you haven't had is freakin' great. Trois Dames ranks high on my list of breweries I'd like to see made legal in Texas.

I have not! I will make it a point to try that beer if possible. Thanks!

I'm getting excited and almost feel that I should make Zwanze Day a priority than football. :grinning:

I can go to either, but here's why I'm going to Jester King instead of Avenue Pub:

    1. Going to Jester King supports Jester King and their willingness to shoulder an event like this in spite of the shitty laws in this state.

    2. Going to Jester King shows that I, as a TX beer geek, WANT better laws for better beer events.

    3. Going to Jester King helps to demonstrate that there is an audience in TX for some of these small brands that can't make it in with the current licensing fees.

    4. This is a Cantillon event in TEXAS. A FUCKING CANTILLON EVENT IN TEXAS. I want to be here for that. Sure, I can drive 8 hours and have more Cantillon (and I did, last year), but holy crap- this is a start. And I'm going to be there for the guys that helped make it happen.

A bottle share is definitely happening. Jeff already said he'd be cool with it in a previous post.

    There's also that!

Those of you who even think of going to New Orleans this year should just start a new site called Beer Opportunist.

Austin BAs do a share at the Draughthouse brewpub the first Sunday of every month.
Only time Draughthouse happily allows outside beer.
