No thanks, it sounds like it hasn't been properly stored.

You mean I can't just stack them all on my deck ?

Actually I have a couple of wine chillers set at 55° in my basement. I also have the glass blacked out.

I also have a couple of stackable boxes under my stairs in the basement

It sounds like you're doing it right then  In all seriousness, it's no big deal if beer goes from a cooler at the store to your basement. You want to avoid high temperatures and sunlight, and it sounds like you are doing both.

So anyways, how about those Pipeworks beers?!

Has anyone age any pipework beers yet, I had a Abduction batch #60 last night, it was awesome with a lot of carbonation still left. I also have a barrel aged smoked porter batch #5. Might trade it but think in the end I will keep it. Just want to know for how long before it goes bad, as its only at 7%, so I think sooner rather then later might be better.

Not sure you can age any of the Abductions, I think(again I think don't know) as it ages it will lose it's fruitness

    Normal Abduction Stout isn't fruited.

EDIT: And to comment on the fruit fading, yes if you age the beer for multiple years, the fruit will probably fall-off quite a bit. But considering how much raspberry I got from RTA, I'm sure a year or two would be just fine. Look at Bramble (yes, I know it's barrel-aged and RTA is not). It's a couple years old now and it's still rocking huge fruit flavors.

And with Coffee Break Abduction, it's going to be sinilar to any coffee stout. If you sit on it for a year, some of the coffee will be faded. Sit on it for 2-3+ years, and the coffee will be mostly faded. But there are some qualities of the coffee that will still remain that will make it a different beer than just aging a normal Abduction.

It's the regular, I was wondering about fruit beers though. Thanks for the advice.

RTA and OTA both say on the bottle that they will hold up to cellaring. Not sure about Coffee Break or Regular. I have all 4 in the cellar now after finally scoring the latest batch of RTA. Time will tell.

On today's show, we'll be discussing common beer myths.

Can Co2 escape from capped bottles within a week at my local beer store?
Will my beer go bad if I let it go from cold to warm?
My friend told me I can age a fruit beer, but that's just crazy right?

Stick around as we answer these questions and many more!

That Binny's Coupon is amazing. As if I didn't have enough of a reason to go find some Chai Dog / fresh NvU.... By the way, does anyone know the brewery cat's name? I walked past this morning and it was patrolling the grounds while the astro van was loaded- pretty cool. Also, will the cat get a beer named after it ala Jonas/Jones Dog? These are some important questions I'm asking on a Friday.
