Why bother with Mexican beers?

I never buy regular Mexican beers in stores (Corona, Tecate, etc).

I want to try some of the Mexican craft beers, but even "upscale" Mexican restaurants would rather offer high-end tequilas than craft beer, seems like.

If I'm in a Mexican restaurant and want to drink beer, I usually pick Negra Modelo over the usual suspects. There is an upscale Mexican restaurant in South FL that has really good food and they have Brooklyn Lager on the menu. I always get that, but I would rather they served some of these Mexican crafts I've heard about.

 

Because they make the best micheladas!

Around here, us Gringos drink Corona, and the Ese's drink Budweiser.

 

Because they are refreshing as hell. Sometimes it's nice to just drink a beer and not have to think about it.

 

Since I was born in Mexico, I believe it's a requirement to maintain my citizenship.

I think the allure of Mexican beer is to help ease the burn the day after. If you know what I mean.

They are not bad beers... They're just undocumentedly good...

 

I can't think of a reason to bother with them.

 

There are some decent Mexican beers out there, Negra Modelo is probably my favorite and was brought up by many as an example. Also as stated by a few people they pair well with spicy Mexican food.

 

Pacifico is the best Mexican beer IMO, can't beat it (while in Mexico) on a hot sunny day!

 

Negra Modelo + Mexican food = Awesome

 

Time and place for every beer.
