    There is no system.

You walk in on the day it comes out and ask if they have it.

well, that's cool and all but if there weren't so many "hoarders" & they hadn't "hoarded" so much, don't you think it may have been a bit easier for those people who couldn't snag any, and maybe they could have saved some gas, cash and frustration? In my hood I'm certain me and like maybe 3 other people are gonna even want this stuff, but when I call the store in my hood, it's gone, bought up no doubt by 1 or a few "out-of-hood hoarders". I guess you can't blame a playa for they hustle, free enterprise, supply & demand and all that jazz... it's just never dawned on me personally to buy up masses of limited beers until I've at least tried it for myself to see how good it was, even when I have enough scratch to feel comfortable doing so, I'm sure profit is almost certainly assured, but it also seems like a bit of a hassle. if I really like something I usually will go back and get a few more. but the game changed long ago. Don't mind me, though really I'm just yelling at the clouds, my vision of a perfect world isn't any more likely to come to fruition than anybody else's and if one of these hoarders was named Gerald and he lived next door and always had the hookup for me, I'd say "that Gerald, he's one of the good one's... salt of the erf" maybe one of these days I'll ease my way into the community and "join the dark side" hehe, but until then, all I can do is shake my fist from afar and then quietly soak my pillow in tears.

I haven't been to Houston in like 3 years. With my work schedule if these "hoarders" didn't hoard me a few bottles, I'd never get the chance to try quite a few beers (which I then, in turn, usually share with others)

well I haven't been to Wank (it's in Germany) in a long time either, but if I couldn't get my hands on a beer that was brewed there I probably wouldn't take it too hard. There's a lotta stuff out there I'd love to try but I'll likely never get the chance to try most of it, I can live with it. Now if I lived in Wank, and I could never find my favorite ale that was brewed just down the street, cuz everyone wanted 3 cases for themselves and one to share, well that would just be a pity.

I'd be willing to part with a COF or two in trade for a VERY good DIPA (of equal value and would have to be fresh, obviously) or we can work something out. I wouldn't be interested in any stouts or porters as I have way too many at the moment. (just an FYI if someone's interested)
Also it would have to be face to face, no shipping for me.

    walez bro's!

Sorry to hear you haven't gotten one. I can part with one at cost if you are anywhere near the heights. I will also be at Specs Midtown at 10 am helping another BA out with 2 bottles if you are anywhere near there around that time. Let me know.

Probably would have been scooped up anyway. Its all about location. Make sure you're hitting the stores with an actual inventory of Karbach, and not just the cans, but the Hop Delusions/Pontificator/Krunkin releases. Also, for the St Arnold DR's, make sure you're going to stores that carry St. Arnold limiteds. You really don't have to go to the Opening Day type releases at Specs to find good beer in Houston. I mean sh!t, Houston's a pretty big city. that extends beyond The Woodlands, Kingwood, Cypress, Spring, Tomball, S Houston, Sugar Land, Stafford.... If you need help on your next venture, BM me.

Since we're talking about delish Stouts, I remember being told by someone I met at HEB that Karbach was doing an Oatmeal Stout. This was last fall and he said they expected it to be released in the winter time. Never happened. Anyone else hear about this elusive Oatmeal Stout?

I've never heard of it, but I often hear strange tales and legends in the beer aisles, you can never know what to believe. Vanilla Hellfighter...yep totally in the dark on that one, missed the boat, but I'm not to swift with the tweetbooks n' stuff. btw..did anyone else find the regular Hellfighter even more Yeti-like than the F.U.N series?

thanks for the offer/s, but I'm not gonna have any chance to get out and about today. I've been lucky with most of the SA divine/pmkntrs to (usually) get a bottle or two, and I usually check grocery stores in the my general Eastside vicinity along with the NE Humble/Atscsta/Baytown/Psdna/CLake and as far west as heights/downtown/midtown that may be likely to have it. (when I have the time, which isn't too often) I call around, but not everyone on the other end knows what they're talking about. I made the trip to downtown/montrose area early Tuesday but it had totally vanished, I was hoping for the best since I erd they was upping production, and I thought BB Gingerbread Stout being readily available weeks after release was maybe a sign I could relax. waited in front of DQ (that's what I like about Texas) to open round 10:15-10:30 but it never did but by this time I knew he would be out anyways and I had to jet. I have a spot that sometimes holds me 1 when they get rare bottles, but more often than not doesn't. I'm still holding out hope for one spot that usually gets late ships. I'm not much good for a trade since I'm no pro hunting down the rare, and only get the stuff what I wanna drink. but I do have a few semi limited or retired bottles I could part with (although it's pretty stout/porter heavy)

a standard commoner's "rare" list... (I have only one or 2 of each)

At least he doesn't have a picture of his baby as the avatar. I get creeped out by other BA's that do that.

On a side note, I'm tired of seeing people bash Matt Chow and others that buy up multiples of new releases. I would not be able to enjoy many beers if not for him. Someone is going to buy that beer if they have the $$$ and the wits. I'd rather have Matt Chow do it, and he spreads it out as much as he can across the BA's that got shut out or didn't have a chance at all. He doesn't even try to profit off it. I don't see any issue with it. He drives all around town, calls all the places, and does all the legwork. If he has the $ and the time, I wish him all the more luck, and turn to him when I didn't. As far I'm concerned, Matt is a stand-up BA.

I guess even after I hoarded it all, I walked into mason road HEB and saw two cases on the floor, then went to fountain view HEB and saw 5 bottles in the cooler, and heard someone saying the manager had a case in his office, then I went late night grocery shopping to HEB plus on fry and saw 3 bottles on the wine stand, so yes, I couldn't tell if you we're serious.

While you're quick to blame hoarders, I'm gonna blame your laziness to search and call around to places to actually find it. Did you actually talk to the beer/wine managers at the stores? Which stores are you going to? I just cited 3 stores, 2 in Katy and one near the Galleria that had it sitting around. Get off your ass and search at some Kroger Signature, HEB, Fiesta, OTL Specs, Randall's.

Look at yourself and what you've done for your search, luck has nothing to do with whether a place has a beer or not, put in some work if you really want the beer before you think hoarders are your first hurdle. My first case on Monday morning came after visiting 5 places over a 3 hour span.
