So I stopped by the same gas station I always go to after work and as I was walking to pick up my mike and ike's and and sam adams I noticed that they had changed two beer coolers from Joose, King Cobra and the like to freaking ST 2X, Bigfoot, Matilda and other craft beers. Holy shit, I thought. I felt compelled to buy a six pack of Hopdevil just out of appreciation.
There's a gas station not too far from my house that has a great beer selection. Completely unexpected.
Thats awesome man. I imagine we here in the states (and Europe) are pretty lucky to get what we get. A Rochefort here is around $10...
Last summer I was traveling home through a small town and stopped at a gas station to fill up. I walked in to see a growler station and a whole wall of craft including the likes of SN Bigfoot, lots of DFH, Southern Tier, Saranac, and Rogue. I'm glad I always travel with a a growler, you never know when opportunity will strike! I miss the gas station growler fills of NY...
Most gas stations here you can get at worst SNPA, and Sam Adams stuff. The grocery store here has as many craft IPA's as many bottle shops, Two Hearted , DFH 60, Caldera, Hop Devil, 2X and so on, all the Great Lakes stuff, even a few Belgians.
Most gas stations have something respectable. Not always great but something I can drink. But walmart around here carries DFH, sweetwater, and numerous other craft beers. never bought from them but they are usually pretty well stocked.
Yeah you guys are really lucky! Duvel is about the best beer I can get in SA and there are only 1 or two stores that carry it!
I was in Atlantic City last night and we stopped at an Irish Pub in one of the casinos. Our server runs down the beers with what you would expect Harp, Guinness, Smithwicks, Miller Lite, Blue Moon, and all of a sudden she says Lagunitas, nothing else. Not only did they have Lagunitas IPA on tap, they even served it in a Lagunitas Mason Jar! Definitely was unexpected.
found some 2010 Abyss at a small beer store in Duluth,MN just sitting in the cooler for $11 each i bought a few
I was at a tiny Italian grocery that had an even smaller beer section, but packed with nothing but high end craft and imports. And I mean only special releases, not year round beers. I found 7 bottles of Left Hand Chainsaw. They were only $1.99 A BOTTLE. And this was not a case of the beer being old; it was only like 3 months after the beer was released. The next time I went there they had 3 bottles of 2009 DFH Black and Blue, 6 bottles of DFH WWS 2008/09, and a couple of Red and Whites. Not a big deal to most people but DFH had pulled out of WI a little more than year before that day.
