I haven't taken nearly any trip over the last few years that hasn't revolved around beer tourism. Most recent destinations have been Asheville, Portland/Bend, Michigan, Colorado, Chicago, Anchorage, NorCal and Belgium. At some point in the near future I'd love to add Vermont and Montreal to that list.

I'm sure you scoped it out, but here's a link to some very good spots in Philly for craft (2 & 9), Belgian (3), German (24) and the like.

I just got back from a trip to brussels, belgium over the winter. I didn't just go there for the beer, but it was available, and I drink (even more on vacation), so we hit the high end beer joints (expensive beer!). Guess what? they all wanted the beer I drink back home. They were all jealous of myself, and even I was wishing I had the beer I had at home.

EDIT: Going to Philly in a month with the hopes of trying Pliny on tap.[/quote]

I'd try Monk's Cafe. Had Pliny the Elder on tap earlier this summer.

Well, the Chinese garden isn't too far from Bridgeport Brewing and the Rogue Ales Public House......

Monk's Cafe is already on my list. Tough thing is, I'll be going there the day after Zwanze day, so it'll probably still be incredibly busy.

Also, thanks EBeckett3, I was familiar with a few of those places but not all. I'm going to keep that website in mind.

All the time. Day trips, trips that last a few days and a few several week long beercations.

When I visit another city for whatever reason and have time to do so, I visit the local breweries.

I have not seen anyone use the term beercation in this thread yet. I am pretty sure I did not make that term up.

In June I took a few days off simply to travel 6 hours to Rochester and Utica, NY to visit the Genesee and Matt Breweries. A lot of craft beer enthusiasts I know plan entire vacations around visits to brewpubs, etc.

I guess I can say this, partially. Just got back from a recent trip down to San Diego to visit the girlfriend's family. Let's just say I was more than willing and used it as the perfect opportunity to get as much craft beer as possible from my favorite breweries (stuff I can hardly get here in WA). Actually came back with some new favorites: Green Flash and Lost Abbey.

Indeed, I agree with this completely and that is my intention for every vacation/holiday I take.

It's a major factor for all of my trips, but not the only factor. Luckily, most good breweries are located in cool areas with other things to do. I always visit the local beer spots wherever I go though.

This may be essential to your vacation. http://phillytapfinder.com. I've found it very accurate recently.

The whole world it seems is visiting Vermont this Summer, which is great for tourism, and for those dying to try the great beers. Perfect time for me to explore great new finds like Maine Beer Co. "Another One" and Jack's Abby 2nd Anniversary while the hordes duke it out for the Vermont offerings.Cheers!

What did you think of Opa Opa? I am personally not a fan, I know they do have quite a lot of fans around Western Ma. I would have personally steered you towards the People's Pint, Amherst Brewing Company, or Northampton Brewing Company for local Western Ma brewpubs.

Not that I can't find DFH here (because it's everywhere), but I went to Delaware for a weekend to visit their brewery and pub. Sort of the same idea I suppose.
